I wanted to check out this spot because of the garden. It was, however, a winter evening when I came, so garden seating was closed, but I was still able to catch a glimpse walking through it before entering the indoor portion of the restaurant. It was pretty empty when I came in. There was only one man (I’m guessing the owner) working there when I came in, and he was incredibly friendly.

An adorable garden restaurant in the heart of New Haven. A true find. The lamb tagine is absolutely divine. The fish tagine was also quite tasty. Definitely would recommend on a beautiful afternoon or evening.

Delicious food, moderate prices and a lush outdoor garden all add to a great experience. It’s a quiet oasis in a sea of activity. Service is excellent, home made lemonade and savory dishes that include a delicious appetizer plate, lamb, fresh veggies as well as fish. Good choices for vegans. And don’t miss dessert!

Very beautiful outdoor seating. You can BYOB for a little charge. Good place to have Hooka and a few beers with friends. Not too many options to eat but the food is great.

Deliciously prepared, authentic Moroccan fare. The owner is super friendly and clearly loves creating savory, satisfying meals for his clientele. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the water. It’s not filtered, and New Haven tap water is almost undrinkable. The water is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

A decent, inexpensive joint for college students, young artists and hookah aficionados. The owner (who appears to be a one-man-show) is low key and polite. The only word of caution: Do not expect authentic (or anything close to) Moroccan or Middle Eastern food. Chicken couscous with breaded chicken strips. Vegetable couscous with bland vegetables and dry semolina. Moroccan mint tea with peppermint tea bags. If you know anything about Moroccan cuisine, you get the picture… As far as the atmosphere is concerned, the place is dated but cozy enough (especially if you smoke the hookah upstairs) but do not expect any romantic outdoor scene. The “garden” might have been pretty once, but it has become an old-plastic-animals cemetery. A pity, as the place has potential and Moroccan restaurants are rare around here…

One of my favorite restaurants in New Haven. Their falafels are unique, fluffy and delicious. It’s BYOB with a $5 corkage fee (VERY reasonable), the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I often dine there for hours, and Jamal makes me feel right at home. Apparently, they are closing 12/30/2023. I urge you to go and eat and drink and make merry at this wonderful little gem of a restaurant.
