The food was really good, better than most dim sum I’ve had in the DC area. The great service was the highlight as they were very friendly, food came out right away, and they were helpful with any questions.

Over the years Hollywood East was the go-to Chinese restaurant in the Silver Spring area. Almost always a line to get in, especially on Sunday, for the dim sum. The food and service were always top-notch. In the glory days, on Sundays, Hollywood East, Good Fortune, both In Wheaton, and the Oriental East drew huge crowds from the entire DMV. All 3 were top-notch with their Dim Sum. Then Oriental East closed. Within year came the Pandemic. Hollywood East remained open, along with several others. We ordered take out several times, but quite frankly, the food was just fair, but we felt an obligation to support these restaurants as much as possible during the pandemic. We finally went back to Hollywood East when they reopened. Again, just fair.

In a nutshell, the food was great and the service is now horrible.

Been customers 20-plus years… Have always loved the food. This time not so. Sesame chicken dry and hard with hardly any sesame seeds. Honey walnut shrimp, usually our favorite, tough and tasteless. Shrimp egg rolls bland. Ginger dumplings still fabulous. Questionable if we’ll go back. If so, only because of so many other good experiences.

This was a great place for an early dinner with little kids. It’s inside the mall and there is ample parking. We order using an app but the staff is very attentive with water and other stuff. They have both high chairs and boosters. The food was great and we felt very welcomed in the space as well.

We ordered about 10 different dim sums to go, and it was all good. We’ll definitely be back.

Excellent, legit Chinese food! Love the dim sum, veggies, noodles – almost everything we have ordered has been really good. The people that run it are very nice. They have everything setup for as little contact as possible. Self-ordering at the table via a QR code, takeout collected from automated boxes, and a host/hostess on an iPad at the front.

I wish they still had the carts or a picture menu but everything but the ribs were delicious and the service was top notch.
