Decent Chinese food at a reasonable price. All the dishes we got were under $20 and we took a lot to go because we couldn’t finish them. They’re currently doing soft opening so service is still a little slow

Newly opened Hing Lung restaurant in downtown San Mateo. It is located at the place where Champagne used to be. The menu is the same as the one at the San Bruno site. Food also tastes the same. The interior and space are much better than the San Bruno one. It is good I don’t need to drive to San Bruno.

Located on 4th Avenue in downtown San Mateo, which replaced the restaurant Champagne. Authentic Hong Kong style cuisine. Definitely try the cart noodles, chose 4 types of toppings: I selected beef brisket, tendon, cuttlefish balls, and braised pork belly. Choice of noodles egg based or rice based, I chose the thin egg noodles. Lastly select the broth, I recommend the braised broth.

The food quality is not as good as the San Bruno branch, but the ambiance is more spacious. It is acceptable for a simple lunch.

Ate here today for lunch. We ordered from the noodle cart and beef tendon with rice rolls. This place got the beef tendon rice rolls perfect, not over cooked, not undercooked, flavor was good- it was Perfect. Noodle soup with the ho fun was good too, personally me with the mild palate enjoyed it, the person I was with felt the food needed a bit more kick but I know they ordered it nonspicy for me, they do have offer mala flavor too if u need the kick. Don’t be afraid to ask for hot sauce if needed, it was a good addition with the beef tendons too. I feel like this was good place for comfort food, our server was friendly and informative and the Hong Kong milk tea served here was good too, not sweet and piping hot

Restaurant is still in “soft opening” phase but was full when we first visited for lunch a few weeks ago. We decided to return today for a late lunch and got a table. Dishes we tried were very good and made my wife and I nostalgic for HK. The panoramic photo mural of Victoria Harbor on one side and HK Street Signs on the other helped transport diners to Hong Kong. Staff were very friendly and courteous. As in every opening, there are minor errors/omissions that need to be addressed, e.g, we ordered a HK BBQ combo of Char Siu Pork and Roast Duck but was served these as part of a rice dish (even the manager was surprised when he saw the dish on our table). Could have been 5 stars had the dishes been more flavorful – just as we have been used to in HK’s restaurants. Nevertheless, for a good two hours, my wife and I were happy to be back in country code 852. We will return to try the congee and noodle dishes.

Always had a satisfying meal. Kudos to the manager who keeps everything in balance and in good spirit. The chef is excellent at the San Mateo location.
