Himalayan Cuisine serves delicious Nepali and Indian cuisines. We enjoyed their Taj Mahal Beer, Rose Wine, Chard and Mulligatawny as drinks; Veg and Chicken Momos for Starters and Tadka Dal, Aloo Gobi, Roti and Goat Biryani for the main course. The dishes were fresh, well cooked, tasty, not spicy and authentic with large servings. The staff are very helpful and friendly with great service. This was our second visit and we enjoyed the dining experience.

On a chilly and windy evening, this was a warm inviting refuge. The hostess seated us and then helped to explain the many Nepalese options on the menu, focusing on the spice options. We found the Chicken Choyela a delicious appetizer. I really enjoyed the Tikka Masala; (UK’s favorite dish!?); the creamy sauce really delighted. My wife enjoyed the Bismati Rice Biryani, my son swiftly polished off Sekuwa Chicken. We had cheese and regular Naan, pickles, and rice. A sumptuous feast, with lovely spices and flavors that celebrated some of the best cuisine from that part of the world, all washed down with Taj Mahal beer. I’ve eaten a lot of food from that cultural area, but rarely has it been any better.

Such a wonderful restaurant tucked away into the corner. Food was delicious and the service was so kind. We had the garlic Naan, chicken Tikka Masala, tandoori shrimps, and yellow lentils. #delicious #amazing! Portions were appropriate, no need to overeat and the quality was excellent.

Wow. Glad to have found somewhere close to Walnut Creek that makes awesome food. Service was great. It wasn’t greasy and was full of flavor. Even the raita was right on point. Prices were reasonable too!

The food was great! After a great hike around the area, we searched for vegan food options and they did not disappoint. We ordered bhindi (okra) and Choley (garbanzo) w/ roti and and ice. The flavors and textures were on point. The host was very pleasant and welcoming. I will definitely come back when I’m in the area

7/30/23 I was wanting Indian food and the place I wanted to order from was closed. They’re always closed on Sunday. I had ordered samosas, veggie biryani, mulligatawny soup, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala (C.T.M.). Everything was good. Never had mulligatawny soupw before and this was one of the restaurants that did. I like the soup and would probably order it again. The naan was present nicely because they were cut up and wrapped and still hot. In my mind the C.T.M. was the winner. It’s thick like a tomato sauce and flavorful. I think it was medium heat and it wasn’t spicy until the end like cinnamon. I will be back and ordering C.T.M. and trying the chicken momo. There’s parking in the parking lot.

Himalayan food is always interesting to me. It is a combination of culture, cuisine and history. When I opened the menu, I see the typical signature items: momos, nan bread and milk tea. What I did not see is a yak-based dish. I am sure it is darn difficult to get any yak in California so I am totally fine with chicken momos instead. It came out tasty and my son loves it. You could tell this place is family run. The lady who took our order, has her son doing homework at a side table. The men in the kitchen were probably family too and they were keen to check in with us to make sure the food is satisfactory. We ordered the garlic naan bread, chicken momos and I was in the mood for lamb vindaloo. All these 3 dishes were great. The vindaloo was pretty spicy and the sauce was spicy and rich. My husband ordered a dish from the specials, which was essentially a grilled steak with sauteed onion and green pepper. To be honest, I am no expert in Himalayan cuisine so i don’t know if this is a traditional dish or some newer iteration. The beef was a bit too dry for us and the seasoning was a little on the light end.

Excellent food. The vegetable biriyani was one one of the best I’ve had. The chicken curry, outstanding and the mango lassi was a treat. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. I definitely recommend this place.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place is great. They were slammed but consistently checked in with us to make sure we knew they hadn’t forgotten about us, and when the food finally arrived, it was worth the wait. Highly recommend.
