Really nothing great about the food here. Bbq is subpar at best, sides usually look like they have been sitting out all day, bland , no flavor. The only thing going for this place is the smoked chicken and portion sizes are large. Honestly this place wouldn’t make it if they had any competition. This is a guy use to central Texas bbq.

We went on Tuesday evening, there was barely any sides to choose from we had to scoop our own. (Not sure if that is common?) our food was luke warm to cold by the time she checked us out to eat. We waited 15 mins just to get asked what we wanted. My husband then adds hot sauce to his plate and it pours out because someone took the top off it. We won’t spend our money there again. Very disappointing.

Absolutely the worst crawfish in DeRidder! I understand that they are little this time of year and that’s fine! They were way over seasoned and also they put them in a paper bag that fell completely apart by the time I got home way too salty and just plain nasty!

The red beans and rice are pretty good! I’m wary of the place because I’ve heard that unsavory characters frequent this place certain days of the week. No fault of the folks running it, I hope. The food is pretty good. Biggest complaint is that the last couple times I tried to go here, they were leaning hard on the Fox News playing on the TV sets. It was obnoxious. I dont want to hear people yelling about politics (esp. in a room with so much reverb) while I eat. It’s a shame that a little country place I used to love as a kid does that now. Keeps me out of the place.

My wife had small shrimp plate and I had the Saturday special, a bowl of gumbo and a pulled pork sandwich. Her shrimp were small and less than a dozen of them. The pork sandwich had a lot of meat but wasn’t very flavorful. The “gumbo” was a big bowl but it was awful, like gumbo from a can. I remember this place being good 20 years ago, it will be another 20 before we come back.

Very hot inside, I’m guessing the A/C w as broke. Had the smoked Pork sandwich, not allot of flavor, the beans were OK. I will go back to try something different. Service was good and fast. I only gave 3 stars because it was so hot inside and meat needed a little more flavor.

We got Steamed Cabbage, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo and BBQ Chopped Brisket Poboys & sliced Sausage. Was take-out meal. Food excellently delicious. Friendly family atmosphere. Recommend to all.

I got a 1 meat small plate to go and was charged for a 2 meat plate and did not question the price until I got home and looked on the menu I picked up. When I got home and started eating, all if my food was cold and dry as dry can get. I had the brisket, cheesy potatoes, and fried okra. I was going to suggest the place to a soldier to get good home cooking, but I have decided not to. I have eaten here occasionally for the past 30 years and will not do this again.
