Lovely restaurant, with takeout and dine-in options. Quiet and comfortable ambience, and no wait when I came in for an early lunch. The food is excellent, and I recommend that Kabuli pallow. Attentive and friendly service.

First time there. Went around 1:45 on a Friday, place was empty. I was ordering takeout. Very surprised by the ambiance of the interior as it was totally unexpected based on the exterior. The traffic on Wolfe street seems to hide this neighborhood gem. The hostess was super nice & explained the menu as I’d never eaten Afghan food before. Ordered the beef kabob meal. Food was good. & wait wasn’t long. Price is average. Would like to stroll back over & dine in so I can get the full experience & explore the menu more. Yes I’d recommend.

One of our favorite spots in Baltimore. The Helmand in Mt. Vernon is amazing so we decided to try Kabobi for lunch & it did not disappoint. I’m obsessed with their naan bread & vegetarian ashak. The pallow is also delicious. We’ve had lunch there & ordered take out. Both were amazing.

I liked the premise, it has potential to be good. The server was what brought it down for us. I ordered the kabuli w/boneless chicken and my partner ordered the chicken lawand. The first issue was the menu online was different from the paper menu my partner got, the menu I got was different from both and water stained. We tried to order drinks and the waiter said he didn’t know how to make drinks so that meant whatever we got was going to be neat. When I asked for the pomegranate drink he said they were out and only had soda. When he came out with the food there was a discrepancy in what was being served but instead of him clarifying he just kept saying it’s what we ordered only the meat is different. The issue was the menu was different or else I would have ordered something else. Then he disappeared into the ether while we waited for our check. The food was ok, was expecting more flavor especially for there to be so much diversity in that area. The spicy sauce was not spicy and barely flavorful. The dark meat in my partners dish was dry meaning they cooked it too long.

First time visiting. The ratings did not disappoint! Just what I was looking for- tasty food! Yummy lamb, in & out super fast! Very polite & efficient service. Worth going out of my way to go uptown. I’d definitely return! The atmosphere looked attractive, but I had carry out. I must say, I had no wait no issues! Awesome experience!

So happy to have a small version of The Helmand near my workplace! The food is awesome. My favorites are the pumpkin appetizer (Kaddo Borani) and the rice bowl with lamb (Kabuli Pallow). The potatoe & chickpea salad (Shornakhod) is super tasty and you get a big portion for a small price. Prices in general are lower than at the main restaurant on Charles Street. It can get busy during lunch hours, so make sure you get there before 12:30. I highly recommend this place!

Wow!!! Delicious and flavorful food. I was in town for a meeting and our group dined at this restaurant and was it a delight. The food was so tasty and fragrant. We ate family style and had several choices. We had the grilled steak, lamb and chicken. The eggplant and pumpkin appetizers were great. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of all the dishes were the meatballs with the cumin basmati rice and the lamb with rice and carrots and raisins on top. Dinner was great. The owner (father and daughter) were very gracious hosts. If you’re in town, you should definitely stop by. Oh and the Portuguese white wine was a nice accompaniment to my meal.

The food was tasty but they left the drink out of my pickup order. I had to go back and was told they didn’t carry that drink even though it was on the menu. So why didn’t they tell me when I came the first time? They couldn’t be bothered. With that attitude they don’t deserve to have customers.

I ate here solo on a recent visit to JHU. The food was delicious, seasoned lamb and rice. Interior clean and pleasant. Waitress was friendly and helpful with recommending dish. Very quick and efficient service. Reasonably priced.
