We arrived for dinner at 5:15 and had an hour before needing to head to the airport. The ambience at the bar was festive, but we sat in the quieter dining room. I was excited to see monitor on the menu, after a hot day. It was a nice size, not the usual small glass. Ahh!

We loved this place. There was a delay in our reservation time, but we were eventually seated. The atmosphere was fun and entertaining. The band was engaging with the crowd and it was very lively. The presentation of the food was great but it tasted average. To be honest, we really went there for the entertainment and they did not disappoint.

I love this place! It’s in a great area and the food is so good! It’s a little pricy but it’s because of the area. The staff was friendly and the service was pretty quick considering how busy and crazy it was. It’s. It a huge place but they have a decent amount of seating for the location including a basement for more seating.

Hold on, my initially review was 5 star, but going to change that. For service should be zero but I cant select that After reviewing my account , I find out they charged me $32 more. What a robbery, i called and they reviewed the bill and then apologized for the overcharged. Really!!!!! Never get back again, good luck if you eat there.

Awful service, overpriced food. 45 minutes to get our bill and after 45 mins it was wrong. Food was not good at all. Shrimps with tomato sauce were only 6 and extremely spicy (hot). Cuban food is not hot at all! Black beans lacked flavour and the rest of our dishes were not good either. The music was so loud (not live) that we were yelling and the servers ignored us all the time.

I visited on a Saturday night and called the day before to make a reservation. When we arrived, the hostess couldn’t find the reservation in the system, nor could I open the reservation itself on the OpenTable app. But, because I showed that a reservation existed in the app and in a text message, we were able to be seated. The venue is small and festively decorated for Christmas. The live band played for most of our meal which was delightful. In-between songs, they sang happy birthday at least three different times, as customers were presented with a sparkler-topped dessert, which was the most energetic restaurant birthday song I’ve experienced. Overall, the food was delicious. I recommend my meals, empanadas with picadillo and Pollo Guantanamera, and as well as the white sangria (which costs a dollar more than what was listed on the outdated drinks menu on our table). The music and atmosphere was so fun and lively, I definitely recommend it.

I had high hopes for Guantanamera but it was a bit of a disappointment. We went after seeing a Broadway show and we’re looking for a place in walking distance. They were able to seat us upon arrival (we had a reservation but arrived a bit early). I ordered Paella. The rice was delicious but the seafood was all way over cooked. The shrimp were dry and tough and the calamari was rubbery. The clams and mussels were very small. And the white fish tasted off. I would not recommend ordering that. The person I was with ordered a chicken dish with a Cuban sauce that she loved. So, I think the food may be okay in general but maybe just stay away from the seafood. The waiter we had was also off. We were finished eating and sat for awhile before he came over to check on us. He asked us if we wanted dessert or anything. We both said no and that we were all set. He said okay and went and stood off to the side. No check. We waited at least five minutes before we called him over from standing there and asked for the check. Very odd. I would not go back there. At least it didn’t cost us an arm and a leg, it was fairly priced.

Guantanamera is a must visit if you are in New York. As soon as you step inside you are transported to Cuba with live music. The food is tasty and wholesome – making it feel a good home cooked meal. The sense of family is not only found in the food but also in the people. As a family run restaurant you feel welcomed into more than just a restaurant but a community. I felt this especially when one of the family Pat bought me and my dad a drink. 5 stars
