I was in town on a Monday night. A lot of places were closed but the valet driver at my hotel said they had good drinks over there. Was a 3 minute walk. The beer selection was great, they had house made sour mix and no sour mix options. The salsa was very very good and the steak and shrimp fajitas were excellent to say the least. I love Mexican food and this place was really good. They had some authentic traditional food and owned by some VT natives. Can’t say enough good things. I enjoyed listening to the college kids talk around me too. Bartender was cool and the wait staff was attentive.

Quaint little Mexican place! The service was slow for the amount of people that were in the restaurant. It was just my group of 7 and we still waited a while for our food. It wasn’t ridiculous amount of time though:) they were friendly and the chips and que so was a HUGE highlight:)

Had a girls night out while visiting town. You get chips and salsa to snack on when you first get there and the waiter was quick to get us waters, and take our order when we were ready and kept checkin in on us to make sure we were satisfied and to see if we needed anything.
My chicken quesadilla was HUGE with chicken, cheese, peppers, sour cream and guacamole. I had to bring half of it home for a midnight snack as it was so thick and filling I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting.
All my other friends enjoyed their meals too.
I love the paintings and pictures. The Frida kahlo painting in the bathroom is awesome.
I hadn’t been here in years as I dont live in the area anymore but I would definitely come again.

Best mexicain restaurant in town. We tried every other mexicain restaurant and this one was by the far the best one. The service was amazing and the food !!!! 10/10 I would recommend.

The food was very good. Salsa and chips, amazing. The chips were warm. We got appetizers but we had to track down waiter for plates and water. Drinks took a long time also. Very limited desert menu. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

Absolutely delicious! We were only in Burlington for the day, and so glad we ate here for my birthday dinner! Staff were friendly and attentive, margarita was good, and the food was great! Queso was thick, creamy, and delicious. Chimichanga was also delicious – and huge! I would definitely recommend El Gato for yummy Mexican food and drinks.

Service is amazing, food’s amazing, but there is one thing they are lacking is dessert they only have a limited fried ice cream that delivers once a week. The bartender told me there was one left. They should have more then one dessert on the menu. Sad I have to go some other place to get dessert.

Delicious, heavy queso and generous combination platters. Salsa is fresh and chips are crisp. Good Mexican selection for Vermont area. Cute window-front atmosphere with beers on tap!

Been here before and enjoyed it. Sat at the bar, it was a good 20!minutes before anyone showed up at all! Another female customer was at the bar and she had a terrible time getting anyone to come out of the kitchen to take her order. I got my own menu from the hostess stand. No one was there. Finally a female bartender showed up but never even asked if I wanted ANYTHING to drink! Kitchen staff delivered my lunch. The food is good here but the service needs improvement!

Terrible experience, never going back. Took forever for the waiter to get to us. We ordered 2 of the El Gato steak burritos for $16.50 apiece. When they came the waiter informed us that the kitchen had run out of rice, so instead of beans and rice they did us “a favor” and gave us a double portion of beans. This meant our plates were FULL of beans.
This also meant that our burritos were giant bean burritos with A LITTLE BIT of steak. After complaining the manager knocked off a whole $5. Ridiculous. I took a picture of my plate afterwards. Just wish I could post it to prove my point.
