The food wasn’t that great. I ordered oxtails, peas and rice and cabbage. The food didn’t have that much flavor for it to be a Caribbean spot. But the service was great, the gentleman behind the counter was very nice, he appreciated that we traveled from VA to eat at his restaurant and gave us free brownies and cookies which were good

Its my first time coming to this place and I was hesitant to come after reading the reviews. However I came and before I even decided what to order the lady yelled at me to either order or leave the store. Im so shocked of how disrespectful these people are, and I promise not to come nor letting my family or friends go to this low place.

I find it insulting to go in a black owned establishment to purchase a traditional dish of black people (macaroni and cheese) and receive something as bland, disgusting and processed as this mac and cheese was. Why would you even sell this to people? It’s barely edible. There’s ZERO cheese in it! U will continue to support black business. Just not this one

Let me start off by saying I love supporting our people but they be the ones with the nasty attitudes all the time my first time visiting this cafe I was excited because it’s always crowded, so I figured the food must be good I order home fries, and a chicken patty. The chicken patty was amazing the home fries taste like burnt plastic the guy or old man that was in the front. He has the worst attitude he should not be on the register. His attitude is very mean and grumpy and it makes you don’t want to go there because how he talks to people. So I gave it another try and the same thing happened he is a very mean guy and don’t know how to speak to people

I’ve been debating if I should even say anything about this because it had nothing to do with me but it’s been bothering me.

Cooked plastic into my Mac n Cheese! And because it was ordered via DoorDash the SUPERVISOR said “it could hv been the driver” smh in the pic I attached u can clearly see tht the piece of plastic was not only stirred into my food but cooked with it! I didn’t call to ask for a refund or more food jst to advice the cooks and Management but with accountability not being taken.. they must DO BETTER as a food establishment tht claims authenticity.

This food place is located at the bottom of DOES building in DC. The food here is a miss or hit. They don’t season their food well which is very surprising being as though they are true Jamaicans. Honestly, the food is not the worst part here it is the customer service. The older gentleman is very rude and obnoxious. I can understand to some degree why he may act the way he does because of which the environment the business is located in, but that still does not take away having good customer service skills. They do not allow you to even drink outside water/ drinks from other places in this place and don’t even think about sitting down for a few minutes without ordering something because they will scold you so much so that it makes you want to leave and not anything. Honestly, save your money and spend it where it is appreciated at. 🙂

Jerk chicken sandwich was very dry tasted like no jerk sauce was added in the process and when I asked for jerk sauce on the side she said it was none! So I’m curious what are you cooking with then. I will never waste a dollar in here again!
