Duffy’s Grill

  3.6 – 125 reviews  $ • American restaurant

Duffy’s Grill Est.1945 Akron, Ohio. In 2005, new ownership kept it fresh daily at Duffy’s with the same time-tested recipes, using quality ingredients, for the most discerning of palates! In 2007, Duffy’s decided to upgrade the quality of beef used to USDA choice which garnered a top spot in the 2007 Best Steaks Beacon Journal poll with it’s flame broiled, hand-cut steaks! As Dale C. said it best: (5 stars) I go to Duffy’s to get the jockey steak dinner which is fantastic. Will get breakfast steak & eggs on weekends sometimes too. Hand cut steaks with no fat or junk to cut off whatsoever. Nothing but 100% delicious steak. Would rather go to Duffy’s than any chain steak house. Yes, ANY!

This place has been closed for years. I don’t know what type of weirdo keeps reopening the page, but this place IS CLOSED.

I think this is now 727 GastroPub. The drinks were good and so was the food. The male owner is nice enough but the female owner is not so friendly. They are a husband and wife ownership. I don’t know that all of us will be back. The owners don’t engage with their customers at all other than the husand is the bartender. He takes your order makes the drink and walks away. It seems as though if you aren’t their friend or in their friend group, they don’t want to be bothered with you. Prices are on the higher end for both food and drink. Back to Iron Grill till we can find something else local.

This place has been closed permanently for years and years. I have sent the edit to Google multiple times. The 727 Gasto pub that was here after Duffy’s closed is also permanently closed.

Duffy’s is an AWESOME place to go to enjoy food, coffee, and good company! The staff, and owners are so hospitable, and friendly! I feel like I’m at home! If I want something special made, in the morning for instance, I ask for Grilled broccoli, red peppers, onions, with Bay seasoning with my Eggs, and topped with cheddar, … or anything special order, They don’t say, “no, we don’t have that”, they say, “OH, THAT SOUNDS GOOD! SURE, WE CAN THROW THAT TOGETHER FOR YOU!”

I love this place. Sundays for the breakfast bowl is a fav. I take myself to dinner on Saturday nights and love it every time. I never feel awkward at dining alone. I feel welcome. I feel safe. Great staff. The food is amazing. I love trying the chef specials. I have never been disappointed at anything. I must plug the white French salad dressing = the best ever!!

The hamburgers here are pretty good. I really enjoyed The Duffy Burger with a slice of sweet ham and Swiss cheese. The staff is friendly and good at what they do. The prices are a good value. You can get out under $10 for lunch without much effort.

This place should get NO STARS! I found hair in my spaghetti, poor service and incompetent waiting staff… orders were wrong… absolutely ridiculous! Refunded my meal, offered something else but too disgusted to eat anything else, or even drink the water!!!! After seeing several other bad reviews, I will be calling the Health Department soon, even worse is that they deleted comments from Facebook.. trying to hide something Duffy’s? Don’t worry, not only are we not coming back, but I am telling my friends and family not to as well. Good luck with your waning business!

The food is disgusting. Period. I’ve never had such a dry burger in my life! The waitress we had had an attitude about everything, the service was horrible. I wouldn’t waste my time with this place. I went with my husband and kids, we all ordered something different and each one of us agreed the food want even worth paying for, buy unfortunately we had to pay for crappy food and crappy service and the bill was ridiculously high for such a hole in the wall!

I just put in an edit to mark duffy’s as perm closed since this is not the name or owners anymore. However I started reading the reviews & anyone who said their food quality started to suffer got a strange reply with copies of tremendously glowing reviews. I found it sad & pathetic the owners felt the need to respond this way on EVERY one. Im sure they check the new place for reviews so I gotta get this off my chest. My family and I ate here for years & always loved the food & the long time servers, my son who just turned 14 grew up knowing most of them. however when they reopened after the fire the quality did go down hill. Cheaper off brand condiments on the tables & cheaper meat was the most noticeable right away. My ex previously worked for a food distributor & pointed out all the cheap stuff they were buying to cut corners & a long time server revealed this as well. Facts are facts, you tried to cut corners & it caused you to lose business & close which is a shame. You took a great place & ran it into the ground to save a buck. How much $$ did it really save you to change to the cheap off brand ketchup?? Obviously not enough since you had to sell it off. Your long time customers know what your food tasted like before & its insulting to all of us for you to treat us like we’re stupid & have no taste buds. You had a good run for many years & when things got tough you tried to save $, & it didnt work. You can cram those good reviews down our throats but everyone started complaining about the food & going elsewhere & that’s the bottom line. Stop insulting the people who kept you in business for years & accept that you made a mistake & drove us away. Just accept you messed up & apologize for taking away one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. You’re continuing to make yourselves look desperate by ignoring what we were saying by trying to mask & sugarcoat it with the few good reviews from people who prob didnt know the quality of the food in years past & therefore had nothing to compare it too. Buck up & admit that you f#@%ed up. All of Ellet already knows. By the way, check reviews on other restaurants & you will find the negative reviews are not responded to in the way you felt was necessary, which came off as very defensive & uncaring. They usually go something like this: we were sorry to hear you had a negative experience & we will take your comments to our staff for review so we may make your next visit a better one. We strive to give our customers a good dining exp & hope we will get the opportunity to make it up to you somehow in the future. We value the opinions of our longtime loyal customers-good & bad & take them seriously so we can continue to grow & improve. Something like that. Something to think about since it was us that kept you in business for years. Act like you appreciated us. The change in your food was the talk of ellet so accept the blame instead of trying to deflect. Thanks for giving us the many tasty years you did, but there could have been more once you realized the mistake but by that time it’s obvious you didnt care anymore.
