For over three decades, Dr. Rolf has provided medical care in the Muskegon area. At home, he would practice his passion of cooking and smoking delicious meats. Now, he’s bringing his talents to downtown Muskegon with Dr. Rolf’s Barbeque! We offer a menu that provides a great assortment of appetizers, salads, chili, sandwiches, sides, desserts, and of course smoked meats!

I’ve been to their Grand Haven location and loved it. Somehow the Muskegon location beats it. The atmosphere is welcoming and nostalgic. It’s located in a great old building with tall tin ceilings. They’ve used reclaimed wood to perfection that just gives a warm feeling and the choice of black metal lighting that gives a nice solid feeling.

Oh my goodness! The food was amazing! 3 of us visited, we all tried each other’s dishes, everything was delicious. The sides are to die for. Real food!! The butter beans were to die for! Brisket was tender and delicious. The Mac and cheese was phenomenal. A lot of hyperbole, I know, but it is well deserved!

Came to Muskegon for our 8th anniversary. We love exploring Lake Michigan cities. First time here for us, and it was such a treat to eat here. Wish we had this restaurant in our town. I loved the little sheds!!!! It is such a neat idea for extra seating and perfect for most weather conditions. Highly recommend to others!!! My husband enjoys smoking meats in his downtime, and Dr. Rolfs passed the test of high-quality food. If you ever decide to expand and open one in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hit me up. I’d love to work for such a cool place part-time.

So my boyfriend found this place and talked me into going there since the reviews were decent. It was Sunday around 6pm. We ordered, the food came in literally 3 min. Which the waiter even said here is your food already I know that was fast. And you know when your food comes that fast it can be concerning. Lo and behold it was cold and the tots were definitely not fresh out of the fryer. The server never did a check back on us. When he finally did come back we told him it was cold and he said “huh that’s weird”. He could of cared less. Care less. What he should’ve done was taken our plate and replaced it with all fresh hot food but no we left there unsatisfied and hungry. Needless to say we will not be returning. We paid the bill and left unhappy and pissed really.

We ordered pulled pork, brisket and chicken things for 52 people at our family reunion 7/23. I met with Judy prior to our event and she was very helpful with ordering the amounts needed. The meat was hot and delivered on time in disposable half pans that fit into the chaffing dishes. Judy brought full size bottles of BBQ sauces as in the restaurant. We received rave reviews from our guests!! The food and service were top notch!! We will definitely use Dr Rolf’s for future events.

Been here numerous times and never disappoints. Did the 2 meats and 2 sides today: brisket and pulled pork. Could tell it was the point side of the brisket, little fatty, but so flavorful. Fresh squeezed lemonade too. Awesome service KayLeigh! Thanks.
