This place is going to be flooded with customers! The weekend buffet for $15 is amazing and the food is pretty good too. There are variety of options for people to try and they stick to traditional south Indian flavors. Some of the items need work which is understandable given they produce them in large quantities. I would say improvements in Idli and coconut chutney are needed. Everything else was very delicious!

We had a brunch buffet. The food was tasty. Good South Indian food. Dosa and Chole Puri were too good.

New Dosa spot alert – they are upcoming and fast making their name. The Dosa could be crispier but the Vedha is hands down the best in San Diego. Soft and fluffy, and the chutneys are thick and delicious. Sambar and Dosa can be improved but they are fast making it so. Food prep has already become better than the opening week. Very tasty still. We ordered Ghee Masala Dosas (could be crispier), Mysore Masala Dosa (perfect soft on inside), Podi Masala Dosa (very very good), and Butter Masala Dosa. Always order the Vedha as it is airy, and crispy and light! Didn’t get idly this time but the manager came over and let us know the Idly wasn’t the best that day and instead we upgraded to Uttapums which was delicious as heck. San Idli does a better job overall but Dosa Studio has a more convenient location, and has the ambience of a good American dining restaurant. The order process is not as daunting as San Idli where you almost have to be quick to secure your food and a table. Dosa Studio is better for dates and taking families who don’t want to deal with San Idli’s chaos (albeit the slightly better tasting grub). 10/10 would recommend for dates.. they are also always stacked with Peanut chutney and Mango Lassi

I came here for brunch today and was not disappointed. The place was packed around 11:00 AM and stayed that way the entire time I was there. You pay for your food before they seat you, and then you can help yourself to the buffet. They seem to rotate what they offer, and today they had several chutneys, sambar, dahi dosa, uppam, pulao, palak pakora, and a couple of rice dishes. I was familiar with a lot of South Indian dishes but I loved that this gave me the opportunity to try ones I haven’t heard of before.

We ordered Plain Dosa, Masala Dosa, Mysore Plain Dosa, Pongal, Idli/Vada combo and Filter coffee. The chutney and sambhar was unlimited. However, none of the food was tasty. Everything was mediocre – Dosa was not well done, had a tangy flavor due to the batter starting to turn sour. The coconut chutney had no taste, the peanut chutney was okay. The rasam and sambhar was nowhere close to authentic. Only the Idli and Vada were good. Even the filter coffee had a strong smell of milk. Overall, not recommended!

5 stars for the weekend Buffet. Absolute value for the money. The spread is amazing with so many varieties. Not just usual idly dosa and puri vada, but also much more like dahi vada( full marks. Yum), bisibela bath, veg pulav, pakoda, etc. Very good varieties for the price for sure. They are very crowded and had to wait long to get seated. I liked everything except idli, which was meh. Dosa was served fresh from tawa, and it was well made. Sambar and coconut chutney were decent . Allam chutney( guess ginger??) was awesome and very different. Mysore pak in sweets was homestyle and tasting good. Coffee was so so.. I wish they maintained the same quality with the same amount of varieties and managed the crowd even better. Also, they should definitely keep bigger cups for sambar. The ambiance was decent.

I had lunch at Dosa Studio on a Friday around 12:20 pm. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived but it quickly got full shortly afterwards. I ordered a cheese dosa and my friend got an idly, podi dosa, and onion uttapam. The I tried some of my friend’s idly and it was good. It’s was like a rice patty in a sauce. It was fun to try but I don’t know if I would order it again. However, I did love my cheese dosa and would absolutely order it again. The dosa was crispy and had a good amount of cheese and was served with 3 different sauces. The service was ok – the food came out fresh but we had to ask for my friend’s tea and the check a few times. Overall, I would come back for the dosa.

I recently visited Dosa studio San Diego, and unfortunately, I was left disappointed with my experience. While their dosa, sambhar, and chutney were decent, nothing about them stood out as exceptional. However, their poori chole halva was downright disappointing. It lacked flavor and depth, and the texture was unappetizing. Additionally, the service left something to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, which made for a somewhat unpleasant dining experience. Overall, while I wouldn’t necessarily discourage others from giving Dosa studio San Diego a try, I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it either, as my own experience was rather lackluster.

I went into this restaurant having never eaten dosas before so I asked the waiter what to order. He recommended the rice cake w/ donut combo and two dosa dishes. All these three tasted pretty good. The rice cake w/ donut combo was a good appetizer and the two dosa dishes were really filling. The sauces were also really good. My favorite was the one with coconut but my mom really liked the peanut sauce. Overall, this restaurant is a good gateway to dosas. I’m pretty sure my first dosa at this place won’t be my last.
