Came in for just drinks (loved the lychee martini? and ended up having some sushi aswell, we really enjoyed our time albeit short. Our server Sasha was very attentive and friendly and made sure we were taken care of, nice atmosphere for a good evening as there are bars within walking distance to continue the night.

The location is a bit inconspicuous. Honestly I had higher expectations for the atmosphere as we went for NYE but it was just ok. The music was okay and they had some videos playing on a projector. The food was good but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed the nigiri the most. The himachi jalapeño roll was a disappointment. Drinks were good and decently priced. I really liked the passionfruit drink on their specialty cocktails.

Had high expectations for their New Year’s special menu at $120 per person, but unfortunately it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Courses were not paced properly: before we finished one dish, the next arrived, and by the second course we had both the second and main course on the table at the same time. It felt very rushed and overcrowded.

When the main course was served, utensils were missing and only arrived after a delay of about 10 minutes so we had our food there and waiting for knives to arrive. Definitely need more training to their staff.

The food overall was quite ordinary. The tuna tartare in particular lacked flavor and tasted very bland. There were also no vegetables included in the courses, other than two small garnish leaves, which ended up being the only greens I had.

Update 10/9. Paperfish replied
“Paperfish applies a standard service charge that is fully disclosed on our menus and receipts, and it’s distributed among our entire service and support staff to ensure fair and consistent compensation across the team.”

To this I respond. It is not the Publics responsibility to pay your staff. Compensation-That’s your responsibility. And if audited I’m sure more than half of these restaurants would not pass the sniff test.

Food was great — but the forced service charge was shady.

The food at Paperfish was excellent and the server did a great job. But I left feeling frustrated and misled. A mandatory service charge was added to the bill without any clear explanation or signage. When I asked, the server said it gets split among staff and she only sees a small portion — but if I tipped extra, that part goes to her. Which I felt obligated to do.

This feels like a manipulative tactic targeting tourists. I’ve eaten at several restaurants in Miami this week, and this was the only one to quietly add a charge like this. If you’re going to force guests to pay extra, be upfront about it — don’t make your staff explain it awkwardly after the fact.

Tips should go to the server providing the service, not get pooled by ownership. Be transparent — no one likes surprise fees on their bill. Legislation should be written to force restaurant owners to pay staff properly and not tack it onto their patrons.

My friends suggested this place for a happy hour on a Friday evening. I got there a little earlier than they did and sat at the bar and was handed the menu for the Miami Spice month. It looked good, but I really wanted to try the happy hour menu my friends spoke of. So I had to ask for it. My friend arrived shortly after and we ordered drinks from it. The drinks not only were delicious, but also very appealing to the eye. The bartender was a little inattentive. She was on her phone for a long time, and genuinely I really don’t care, but I clocked it because we were one of the only group sitting there, and there was two of us, and then there was another person sitting by themselves, and we constantly were trying to have to get her attention. However, a second bartender arrived within 15-20 minutes and really turned the night around. We ordered a lot of sushi off the happy hour menu and all of it was amazing. So overall, this is a solid place for sushi and an adequate place for happy hour.

I had an amazing meal here. I sat at the bar and Maria and Vanessa took amazing care of me. The service was incredible, the drinks were fantastic, and they were super friendly. The happy hour specials were also amazing. The wagyu gyoza was so tasty. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that salmon is the only nigiri happy hour special.

Really good spot. So good I brought my colleague back 3 more times that week. I travel to Miami several times a month and this is easily one of my favorite spots now thanks to Maria, Vanessa and the crazy high quality sushi.

Interesting Peruvian/Japanese restaurant. Interesting menu and excellent service. Some of the menu items are never heard of before. Good Japanese food with Peruvian twist.

Pros: amazing atmosphere! Absolutely loved the creative and immersive decor. The food and drinks were, for the most part, delicious. And great happy hour deals! The highlights were the tropical yasai roll and chocolate ganache cake! The miso shishito peppers were also decent, but definitely was lacking in sauce.
Cons: my friend thought the truffle fried rice was bland (I disagreed with her!). The restaurant was quite loud (mostly from the music, but also because it was crowded on a Friday night), making conversation difficult. The main thing detracting from our dining experience was that our waitress was extremely unfriendly and inattentive.
