Probably one of my favorite brunch experiences ever! I’m surprised this place doesn’t have a higher rating. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the specials: blue pinon pancakes and the smoked salmon avocado toast. I think the pictures speak for themselves. The atmosphere was beautiful. Very relaxing with lots of plants and an outdoor amazon/garden feel. Definitely be sure to walk around the resort and check out the pool area and the cool ponds in the back.

De la Tierra has to be the best restaurant in Taos, maybe New Mexico, hidden away in El Monte Sagrada, it offers excellent high end dining, with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Chris was our waiter, and while quiet and reserved, he offered excellent suggestions and advice pertaining to our meal. While at other restaurants, the staff would make small talk for the sake of it, when Chris spoke, he enlightened us to everything De la Tierra had to offer. We ordered the cornbread, which by far was the best cornbread I’ve ever had and I know how to make corn bread. The scallops and the tenderloin were excellent and they had an extensive cocktail and wine list. I highly recommend this place, make sure to make reservations.

Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. It was loaded with bacon, breakfast sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs and smothered with red chili sauce and topped with avocado. Quality of each of the ingredients were excellent. We also shared an almond croissant which was still warm. Very relaxing vibe in a quiet indoor garden type space as other reviewers have mentioned. Just try it, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Food was delicious. The chef really did a good job on the veal. The rainbow trout was fall off the bone tender and juicy.

We had high hopes for this restaurant but the food didn’t live up to par. I think our biggest complaint was the pan seared rainbow trout – which wasn’t pan seared at all. It stated it was in a curry broth but instead was laid on this peanut butter thick curry paste. No broth to be found. It was so over the top spicy that not a single one of the three of us could eat it. My teenage son managed to eat a couple bites and has now been sick from the spice level for the past 20 minutes. When serving staff asked us how it was (with 95% left on the plate) and we responded it was too spicy, nothing was said or done. When I called to speak to head of house, Rick, his response was “thanks for letting us know”. Our stay at this hotel was phenomenal, but this restaurant experience left us disappointed and one of us sick. The chef called in the midst of me writing this review and had equally poor customer service. It was green curry paste on our plate, not broth, there’s a big difference. Worst customer service I’ve had at any restaurant. I stated I didn’t want a refund – but the argumentative nature of this chef was out of hand. I have a full voicemail of her defending this dish before she even spoke to me. That left no room to be heard or understood which is number one in customer service.

Even though I’ve dined here dozens of times since this hotel first opened, it’s only now that I’ve felt compelled to write a review. I’d always thought the food before tonight to be adequate but nothing extraordinary. I don’t know if there’s a new chef or what, but the trout that I had tonight was about the most flavorful fish I’ve had outside of Japan! The ginger, the pickled vegetables, the cashew sauce…. Oh my goodness, I could eat this every day! And the service was stellar, too. Thank you for making our whim of Christmas outing so delicious and memorable.

I hate giving bad reviews, but I have to say that De La Tierra food was not good. The spices on the food were not balanced, so it was offensive to the taste in some cases. They had limited gluten-free options, which were cross-contaminated, and it did not sit well with my stomach. And the dessert (creme brule had gluten which it is not supposed to have! ). The food was not worth the price.

This was definitely the worst dinning experience my fiancé and I ever had. Service was very slow from the start, staff did not acknowledge us waiting at the hostess desk. We were seated. We ordered, the meal arrived and was the food was decent nothing extraordinary. However, the presentation of our food was the downfall for us. The server broke my drink as he was placing my food which shattered my drink everywhere, I was drenched. Instead of really helping the waitress asked if I wanted another drink. To which we considered this an unfortunate situation as accidents happen. But once the bill arrived, the drink was not removed from the tab nor was my meal credited to any degree. We weren’t expecting any freebies and respect mistakes happen. This was more than a mistake I sat wet the entire meal, picking glass out of my clothing. This wasn’t top class service to any degree. My fiancé was furious they didn’t even bother to apologize and consider removing the drink from our tab. He eventually was frustrated with service to the point he addressed the ticket with the manager. Which the manager credited my drink from the bill. What bothered us the most is the waitress, Desiree commented, “oh are we approving that?”. This was by far the worst experience we’ve had at this restaurant. It lacks in customer service, professionalism and the fine dining experience. It’s very sad to see this restaurant be considered luxurious fine dining when in reality it’s just pretty. This lack or customer service and professionalism has become the normal standard for Taos and it’s outrageous. It’s embarrassing to be a local and see the lack of care, it shouldn’t be this way. Not only because we’re a tourist attraction location rich in culture and should be represented with class. But most importantly because it’s the right thing to do. Worst dinning experience ever.

The service was adequate as there weren’t many people in the restaurant. The bread appetizer was cold but still tasteful. I ordered the pan roasted duck breast that was cooked well, but lacked in texture and taste. The sides did not pair very well with the entree. Overall a subpar experience for my taste buds, but a great atmosphere.
