I LOVE Daytime! I’ve been coming here for the past few months and I can truly say that this is among the best brunch spots in Ames, and arguably in Central Iowa. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is incredible and focused on making every experience memorable. Staff there like Emily truly go the extra mile! Above all the food is delightful. Truly one of the hidden gems in Ames.

Daytime diner was one of the places I wanted to visit while living in Ames and it finally happened this morning! I enjoyed their brunch menu and coffee a lot. They had a very interesting pour over coffee machine which seemed to make coffee pretty good. I hope I can come back soon to try their other food options. Looking forward to trying their waffles next time. 🙂

My favorite coffee shop in Ames. I go here every weekend! Their drip coffee is amazing and the overall atmosphere is exactly what I need on a chill weekend morning. It can be very busy at points, so sometimes it’s hard to find a table if you’re going with a group, but otherwise no complaints

I love this place, great food, interesting atmosphere, however, I ran in today at 2:25 PM to grab a quick avocado toast, the most delicious avocado toast on the planet! The staff told me the kitchen was closed even though the restaurant is “open” until 3 PM. They were wishy-washy on what time the kitchen closes usually, it would be nice to know that the restaurant is not actually open at 2:25 when it says is it it is open until 3:00.

We came here three days in a row while visiting Ames. Twice for dine in and once to go. The BLT is really special, the brown butter flavor really makes it unique. The orange juice and coffee are delightful and the chai is worth the trip alone. For my preferences, the Strawberry Goat Cheese toast needed some more crunch to it, but the flavor combination was good. We will be back again whenever we come through Ames- thank you!

We tried out Daytime on Saturday and it was a really cute little place! It’s very open, clean, and the staff were very friendly. The grilled cheese and soup was good, the only thing was the cheese wasn’t super melted, so it came apart a little, but still would eat again.

Don’t let the appearance fool you! My boyfriend and I lovingly called this place “Shady Diner” for months because of the signs looking a bit, well… shady. Today we stopped in for a bite and were definitely surprised. The interior is so comfortable with a lovely atmosphere and clear organization and care for the ease of access to both customers and employees. I ordered a dark roast, a cappuccino, a strata and an eggs benedict from the brunch menu and sat down. The place was impeccably clean and the staff was attentive, making sure to inquire about milk alternatives. The coffees came out quickly, the dark roast being delicious and the cappuccino having adorable art in the foam. When our food came out, the eggs benedict looked like it was made at a 5-star restaurant or some equivalent and tasted as much. My boyfriend, who arrived after coffee was served but before the food, took one bite of his strata and immediately said, “We’re coming back here, oh my god.” The service was attentive and cordial, the food and coffee were timely and delicious, and the staff were sweet about my exhausted boyfriend leaving his phone on the windowsill, making sure to give it to us before we even got all the way out of the door. It may look strange on the outside but I assure you this place is worth it! Good food at low prices, wonderful service. Comparable to Cafe Milo some ways down the road, and close enough to Hy-Vee to get a nice bite after food shopping. Will definitely be returning to try the other menu!

went here for a relaxed breakfast and ordered chai latte and breakfast burrito. Chai was ok hoping it could get more flavor in it but it was not as strong as i would expect. Breakfast burrito was really good! It took quite awhile for my food to be served but not too long. The place is really nice and clean and well decorated. Good for hanging out with friends or family. Price is nice too around 10-20$ for drinks and foods.
