The four of us had a blast. Food is excellent. We had the jerk chicken, fried chicken, dressed red snapper, seafood creole. Oh I can’t forgot the cornbread. And the service was superb. Casey the chef is so friendly. We really enjoyed our time of great food and fellowship. We will return.

My friend and I came in to dine at a really off-peak hour, and Ben, the manager, was kind to inform us that there was a private party that booked the whole establishment. He said he could be diligent to accommodate us on lieu of this if we were able to come in and make our order in a timely fashion. The food was great, the vegetables were so fresh. Each meal tasted great, and the cornbread was nice, too. Please support this black owned establishment. Great service!!

We didn’t have a reservation, but the owner of the restaurant – a very kind person – squeezed us in. The food was perfectly cooked. Fresh ingredients, tasty spices and herbs. Due to the friendly service and great food, I’d always recommend putting this place on your to-do list whenever you’re in Baltimore! But be sure to make your reservation ahead of time!

In town for business and found the Southern inspired menu intriguing. This place did not disappoint! Portions are VERY generous. I had the gumbo and took about half of it back to the hotel. Well-seasoned with a pleasant but not overpowering kick. They don’t skimp on ingredients…lots of chicken, sausage and shrimp. The Darker Than Blue Lager paired well. Highly recommended!

My husband and I decided to stop by “Darker that Blue Grille on North Charles Street on Saturday after the Charles Street Promenade. It was our first time dining at a restaurant in Baltimore City this year.

From the time we entered the restaurant we were greeted. Ben is a real charm to the company and as well as the chef. He came out to make sure everyone was happy. We were going to just do pickup but we changed our minds and definitely wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere was awesome. The food was so fresh and light. It was truly made with love. I had the blacken salmon with jasmine rice with crab, shrimp spinach mix and my boyfriend had the fried catfish with grits. Like a couple do, we tried each other dishes later and the food was better the second time around. Seasoned to perfection. We have found our favorite spot and will dine in again. Ben was nice enough to let us sit in normally you have to reserve a table. The decor is so beautiful. Ask about the artwork it has a history that will make you love this place even more.

Stumbled across this wonderful black owned establishment while searching for a place for my sister’s and I to have our monthly date. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! From the atmosphere, to the service, and the food, everything was top notch!! It’s reservation only which was nice because we didn’t have to wait to be seated and we didn’t have to worry about a large crowd. Casey, the owner was serving, waiting tables, and engaging with all the customers. BTW, I love to see owners/management getting down and dirty with the rest of the staff lol Ben, another server was awesome and friendly as well. Ben even offered to be our photographer as we ALWAYS do photo shoots while we’re out. We even got a little black history while there. We will be going back. Thank you Casey for running such a fine establishment!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food AND music (classic R&B deep cuts to modern). A great atmosphere, not too loud, comfortable, and plenty of space. Our meals were served in cast iron skillets. The corn bread was sublime. Our meals consisted of hamburger with sweet potato fries, crab mac and cheese, and three menu special jerk chicken with collard greens and spicy rice. EVERYTHING was appropriately spiced and absolutely delicious. Best collards I’ve ever had out, and the jerk was fresh-milled and super tender. For drinks we enjoyed peach tea, and lemonade refills. We can’t wait to go back when we return to Baltimore, a lovely city!
