Cúrate

  4.7 – 3 reviews  $$$ • Spanish restaurant

Cúrate is a celebration of authentic Spanish cuisine. For those who have visited Spain, the Cúrate menu will bring back memories of the country’s best jamón Ibérico, vermuterías, and lively tapas culture. In recognition of the restaurant’s all-Spanish wine list, Cúrate was listed as one of America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in 2018. Cúrate means ‘cure yourself’ in Spanish, reflecting the belief held by chef Katie Button and her family that there are curative effects in sharing good food and wine with family and friends. Experience the essence of Spain in downtown Asheville… one plate at a time.

Hip eatery in a former 1927 bus depot offering elevated small plates, cured meats, sherries & wine.

I’m in awe. Starting with the waitress, a thin girl with a beautiful smile and a true interest in sharing the menu details and creations.

A chef once told me that good eating and drinking make you demanding, and in Cúrate I found that to be true. The food in this place left me totally disappointed, the combinations are very simple and there is no depth in the flavors, everything is very basic, the seasoning seems optional, service was good; there is not much more to say.

I like the atmosphere of this restaurant! The tapas are good but some of the portions (eggplant tapas) are small. Overall, Curate is a good experience if you can get a reservation! I’d recommend leaving a percentage of the tables open for walk-ins and/or locals.

We sat at the kitchen bar, chef’s table. Watching everyone behind the house prep, cook and finish our food was an elevated dining experience. The different senses enhance everything. Outside of Mercantile in downtown Denver, this restaurant is truly unique in it’s ways.

Okay hands down the best Spanish tapas I have had. As a New Yorker I am spoilt by the great food options here and the standards of good food is high for me. Katie button, as always, you are the queen. We ordered around 15 items from the menu and everything was perfect. The top 3 pick : lamb skewers , chicken cutlet, pork cooked in pork blood ( forgot the name of the dish) .

We are so happy we stumbled upon Curate while visiting downtown Asheville! We did not have a reservation but on a Sunday around 11:30am, we were able to be seated right away! Having eaten Spanish tapas before, there were a few dishes we knew we wanted to get like the pan con tomate and the selection of Spanish cheeses. The cheeses were all excellent and our waiter provided excellent suggestions for which other menu items would pair well with our cheese. We got the fried eggplant with honey and the chorizo bites wrapped with potato chips both of which were amazing! To finish we tried the chocolate mousse with cherry sorbet and it was some of the best flavors we have ever had! There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try, I can’t wait to come back soon! A must when in downtown Asheville!
