We did not have a reservation and felt lucky to get seated immediately. Our server was quite genuine and attentive. I had my classic Manhattan, up with rye which came out right away. We shared a Burrata as an appetizer, with the pesto on the side due to a garlic allergy. It was delicious as expected. My wife thoroughly enjoying the Butter Chicken with dressed arugula. She was in the mood for pasta so added a side of butter pasta with parmigiana (not on the menu). It was excellent and made for plenty of leftovers for the both of us at the hotel. I had the Bolognese which was rich and complex, fantastic recipe with house made pasta.

Authentic Italian food is hard to find in the US, especially outside of a big city, but this place rivals any big-city nice Italian restaurant. This is by far the best Italian—and maybe best of any genre—restaurant in the Triangle, with a fantastic menu and great staff (including knowledgeable waiters, skilled bar tenders, and a wonderful sommelier). The interior has a welcoming, rustic vibe that fits well with the feel of Durham, as well.

It was our second time been here to celebrate birthday. Food is delicious!!! My favorite Italian in town. I like my pasta with clam(linguine allá vongole), the pasta is al dente, and the sauce is great with a little bit spicy flavor. Creamed mushroom is a must-have. And we surprisingly found the braised beef shank was soooooo good! It’s flavorful and the beef is so tender. It’s in a huge portion, good for sharing. Excellent service, and always need a reservation.

First Time dining at Cucciolo. Great location if you can find parking nearby. Parking decks are a fun short walk away though. Upon arrival you may wonder if this is really an Italian restaurant. The ambiance, and contemporary minimalist decor isn’t exactly what you’d expect from an Italian Eatery. However, that’s where the differences end for me. The food was excellent, and so was the service! Best part is that mostly everything is completely sharable. The portion sizes are not too small, and not too large. This allowed me to enjoy many different courses without feeling like I was stuffed, or need a box because I couldn’t finish everything. Our knowledgeable server guided us through our entire meal. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. I wish that I could highlight one particular dish, but everything we ordered was delicious. I left very satisfied, and cannot wait to return!

I said in the bar area on a Saturday night and it was a little loud. But that’s to be expected. I had the beef carpaccio and it was delicious just the perfect amount of black pepper and sliced almost paper thin. Some of the best I’ve ever eaten. I also enjoyed the linguine vongole. The pasta was cooked al dente and seemed to be made in-house the shellfish was Super Fresh and the sauce was unbelievable. If I was not so full I would requested a piece of bread so that I could finish what was left in the bowl of the sauce. This place is a bit pricey. Not somewhere that I would go on a regular basis but would try on a monthly basis.

Came for dinner on a Friday night without a reservation. The host worked with us, and we were lucky to be seated at a hightop table near the bar. Service was prompt and polite. The sommalier was kind and very knowledgable. We ended up trying theCrazy Creatures Grüner Veltliner, which was a great choice.
