The place is in total disrepair. The food was mediocre at best. The service was good, but we were the only table at 6:30 on a Friday, so I can’t really count that. My girlfriend ordered the chicken breast which was overcooked, I ordered the shrimp jambalaya and the rice that was served with it was severely overcooked, the vegetables on the side they said were sauteed but they tasted more like steamed – no flavor. The shrimp were not peeled and one was not cleaned well at all as I crunched down on what I assume was sand. We had a Groupon, which made it marginally better, but at the price per plate ($25) I simply can’t recommend this place.

The chicken and sides were ok. The greens were great. Strangely most every leafy side had chicken in it, bones and all (little bones) It seems as if the leftovers are used to season the sides? Thought the desserts were going to be awesome…they were not. Cake had not just fallen, it appeared to have broken apart and been woefully slapped back together before icing. The banana pudding looked as if it belonged on a Chinese buffet. This is not the place where you want to waste your money.

Perhaps I went on an off night because my meal was not as others here who have left reviews. We had a small salad, not even a half rack of ribs, rice/bean/frank medley, and steamed or sauteed vegetables. I don’t believe what my mother and I were served was worth an original price of $50 (we had a LivingSocial deal so it ended up being $24). What I do love is that they are genuinely good people who know how to have fun and entertain, but I doubt I will be back for a meal. I support black-owned businesses and restaurants and wish them much success in their future.

The food was delicious!! I really enjoyed the variety of the buffet and it was a nice setting. My concern is the overall decor, parking wasn’t good and the atmosphere just could have been nicer. If it was all about the food then superb.

Went on a Living Social deal – kind of a strange place as a restaurant in Greenville. Actually found it to be extremely enjoyable – pork tenderloin was absolutely great and my wife was really happy with the salmon. Treated to jazz and Christmas -music, plus a little gospel Christmas with the chef pulling out the trumpet. Somehow I expect to be back.

I bought a deal an Groupon for a dinner at this restaurant. I was told when I purchased the deal that I needed to call and make a reservation in order to use the coupon. I tried calling the restaurant 20 times throughout that afternoon (not exaggerating, I can show you the call log) and no one answered. I couldn’t leave a message because the voicemail was full. I left a message on Facebook messenger over a week ago now, and no answer. I stopped by the location that night, and no one was there, I knocked on the door and no answer. I honestly believe this restaurant closed down, but I can’t tell because I can’t get ahold of anyone. I feel ripped off because they were advertising a good deal, I bought it, and now there’s no way to redeem it. I will be willing to change this one star review once I can speak with someone from the restaurant.

My son was leaving to continue his studies in China, so I took him for Sunday brunch at Chef Manigault’s in Greenville as a special treat. He and I thoroughly enjoyed the brunch. The restaurant is situated in an old southern home with downstairs and upstairs dining. For brunch we had potatoes, meatloaf with gravy, sausage, white fish, fishcakes, pasta, grits and salad. There were many more selections. Then we had an omelette with cheese and ham, ice tea and coffee. Next came a selection of two cakes with a pudding on the side. All this for the unbelievable price of $9.95 each. Excellent!

Went to this restaurant in late July 2014, while attending our Garrett Morgan Family Reunion. Hosts at the restaurant were very accommodating. Food was great with sumptuous variety! Being from Michigan where we’re only accustomed to salt & pepper, my palate enjoyed tasting the marvelous spices used in the preparation of our buffét! When we go back to visit Greenville, we will definitely pay them another visit!

Our family had been going here for years on Christmas and Easter. Chef had never disappointed us. Great food and plenty to choose from followed by great desserts.
