The service is out of this world. I’m definitely coming back. The food is beyond exceptional. Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. The super burrito with steak was hot and fresh… lots of flavor with a bit of a kick. The chicken cheese quesadilla had the best flavor ever.

My boyfriend and I walked in and it was completely dead, there was only one other table in the entire restaurant on a Saturday night (we should have taken that as a sign). Our waiter completely forgot about us for 10-15 minutes and we were basically the only ones in there, every time we would ask for something it would take him way longer than it should have. The food was also not very good. I love Mexican food and this was just not it.

This is my favorite spot in Iowa City so far! The atmosphere was outstanding, playlist was bomb, service top notch, but the food & drinks…. baby, on another level!

I love their chicken enchiladas mole. I read mole is the favorite sauce in Mexico and I can see why. We’ve eaten at Casa Azul many times while in Iowa City to see my Dr. Will be visiting Casa Azul again soon. Bonapetit!!!

Beautiful inside. Server was funny and nice. I got the buffalo chicken quesadilla (I know, not typical) but it was sooo good. The salsa was also amazing.

Worst food I’ve ever had in the city of Coralville Iowa!!! Beans were sour and the breaded steak was so tough that you actually heard it drop on the plate because it was so stale!!!! I didn’t complain in fear of what they would do to my food or their unprofessionalism.

This is usually one of our favorite restaurants in Iowa City, but DON’T order delivery within an hour of closing. The order was clearly rushed and the vegan meal (ordered without dairy products) came with cheese melted all the way through it and none of it was edible.

Best authentic (not Americanized) Mexican food in Iowa city. Restaurant is well designed, clean, and plates, menu’s, and cutlery all match the aesthetic. Unlimited chips and salsa are served for free as an appetizer, all entrees are served hot with USDA prime steak, and service is top notch. Highly recommend.

First I’ll say the restaurant was decorated very nicely. Really enjoyed the Frida paintings and colorful scenery. There was only a handful of people there tonight, but it took a very long time to get our order and there was only 2 of us. The rice needed more seasoning and the tortillas were not cooked thoroughly. It was our first time there and I don’t believe we’ll be coming back.
