Fajitas were delicious. Beans and rice were kind of bland, the pico and guacamole was probably the best I’ve ever had. Friendly service but not very attentive, especially being there was only one other couple in the restaurant. May have been short staffed. Good prices for portion sizes. I will definitely visit again next time I am in the area.

I have frequented this place a lot since being in Louisiana. Their crispy tacos and drinks are the only thing good on the menu. The ground beef is always seasoned well. The other meat choices are sadly not. This trip, we ordered carne asada, shrimp, and grilled chicken tacos south of the border style with cilantro, onions, and salsa verde. My favorite waiter, Carlos asked did I need a box because I just left the food there after taking one bite of each taco- the food is severely under seasoned and the carne asada is always so chewy/overcooked, even when you order the fajitas and ask them to cook it medium. I’ve had their other options from rice, beans, enchiladas, to fajitas and it honestly doesn’t matter what your order here, it all tastes like it is missing seasoning. I gave it 2 stars because one margarita here will have you feeling good and their service (with the exception of one young male server whose name I didn’t even waste time remembering- he really is the worst, you can’t miss him). Seriously, don’t waste your money here.

Food prices increased, and quality went down. They replaced the homemade chips with cheap tostitos out of a bag. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, the waitress told me that management made this change. I’m not going back. The chips and salsa make or break a Mexican restaurant. There are a million other Mexican restaurants in Metairie that are making fresh chips and salsa, I’m going to have go to one those now.

We have been coming to this location for the last 5 years for Cinco de Mayo. I didn’t see anything special going on for the lunch crowd. The menu was very small. My husband asked if you could get some tacos. They told him no. You have to order one of the meals off the menu. Really they couldn’t make tacos. My sister’s and I ordered the Chimichanga they put hers right on top of her beans.

I would rate most of Carretas dishes as above average. Never left the place disappointed. My favorite is to go for take-out on cold days for some Tortilla Soup with shredded chicken. Delicious and really hits the spot for comfort Mexican food.

I had an absolutely wonderful time at Carreras Grill. The bar tender is Supa awesome. Tip him handsomely. The Burito dinner was so tasty. My margarita was hand made with Horitios. So Tasty.

Eat here on a regular basis. Love the salsa and their ceviche is delicious! Sometimes, there’s a wonderful live singer. Enchiladas are my favorite and don’t forget a margarita!

I’ve heard of Carreta’s Grill, but I had never dined there before. I wonder what took me so long! Lol! The restaurant had just opened, so I was seated immediately. The food was excellent. Carlos, who was my server, was attentive without hovering over me. The place was really clean. The interior was decorated well. They have REAL plants in their wall decorations! The nice lady was changing some out. s Big improvement over plastic that other places have on display. This is a page worth dining at over and over again. Thanks for a wonderful time.

Enchilada dinner I got was amazing it’s the first one at the top of the menu under enchiladas it came with a skirt steak that was perfectly cooked. I also got the strawberry frozen margarita which was amazing. Service was awesome. Highly recommend this place I think I enjoyed this more than Pedro’s the vibe is much more chill and authentic.
