At our Alton, IL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Ok, gotta be honest here. Back in my college days, all of us considered Captain D’s the “cheap, bottom of the barrel” seafood place. So after moving to Alton, I avoided this location for a while. One day, they advertised a platter special that just sounded really good so I tried it. It really wasn’t bad, especially for the price.

Always enjoy these pick-ups. While it isn’t the fasted store by any stretch, it far from the slowest. The workers, while obviously overworked and understaffed, are still courteous and kind during our interactions. I truly wish more delivery pick-ups went as pleasantly as this one.

A young lady named Jamie was working offered the 5 shrimp special just like she was supposed to but the difference was her great personality and interaction, smiled the whole time and made the visit very pleasant. Our food was good but the service was not. We pulled into a spot to eat since the dining room is closed to find we only had half of our order. We had to get back into the drive thru line and waited over 15 min to have them just hand out the rest of our food with no comment or apology. By this time our other food was cold. I guess part of that was our fault for not checking our order before pulling away
