At our Greenwood, MS location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The Sampler plate was horrific! The fish had so much batter on it, that you couldn’t taste anything else. The same with the shrimp. And whose idea was it to put chicken on a fish sampler plate. Duh…..
I don’t have a clue as to what that crunchy stuff was in there. No flavor at all. I guess it was fried paper so to fill you up. Also had the clam strips. Ha, just like the crunchy stuff. PITIFUL to say that was a meal.

All the seafood is sourced from China and tastes like it. The okra was fried in very old oil. The slaw wasnt fresh. Service was okay, not that he had to go put of his way.

Went to Captain D’s on March 21st, 2025 after anticipating the visit for my first since leaving town in 2005. Wife and made our orders inside. We ordered the Sampler platter with fries and green beans which came out cold. We ordered a soft drink at $3.09 and was told after we paid that the ice machine was out of order. We paid with a debit card and was informed that it would show back into the account in 3 to 5 days. We wanted to cancel the order but the cashier had the cooks remake the order which was confused with someone else. We received the order and had to pay again with cash and the food was awful. Totally disappointed with the whole experience.

They have changed the fish to swai from Vietnam.
The fish has the texture of chicken and doesn’t even taste like fish.
Couldn’t eat the fish and they wouldn’t give me a refund but they threw away the fish I couldn’t eat and gave me some more.
It was just as bad I had to throw it away because I couldn’t eat the fish. The batter was good but the fish was dry and smelled and tasted like bad chicken.

I usually have a pleasant experience here. On august 25, 2023 at roughly 8:30 pm. I ordered through the drive through. The cashier wasn’t paying attention to me. I was explaining to her the order she recalled back to me wasn’t my order. Not sure of what her but she seemed irritated. As she went on to talk about the previous worker leaving the cash register with a specific type of change. She was so frustrated she didn’t give be my receipt.the food was fine but her body language showed frustration and irritation . Also in her speech it was shown. Most people at this location are attentive and pleasant. I didn’t get my broccoli and cheese.

Food was ok. The manager wouldn’t confront me about kitchen substitutions. He made the cashier confront me. He was unprofessional, but the cashier did what she could to rectify the situation. The dining room looked like it was falling apart. It felt like I was eating in a dump. The fish tasted “sweaty”. It was like they cooked a lot of fish in advance and stacked it under the heat lamp. The fish didn’t feel stiff. The batter felt a little cakey. The fish was slight undesirable.
