That was a delightful experience. The most important: the food was amazing. Crab with caviar, spiny lobster, rock fish and short ribs were the top highlights for me. My date enjoyed the Mezcal flight, and I loved the non-alcoholic pairing. Everyone was a top profesional making our experience even more so wonderful. The dishes were three bites at most, but I was so full after that dinner. Of course, it was also very beautifully presented. Expensive, but definitely worth it.

5 star! We had a limited time in the bay area, and we were really having a hard time choosing among singlethread, californios, and a few others. We are so glad we chose Californios as we believe. It is probably a lot more memorable on the culinary side than the others would have been. I am a lactose free vegetarian/ shellfish free pescatarian, and they accommodated my dietary needs amazingly well. My husband eats absolutely everything and he enjoyed his meal thoroughly. There was not a single dish here that was a “miss,” which we experience sometimes in tasting menus. The only downside obviously is it’s location in the mission. We definitely prefer this to be in another area … the vanilla extract they leave as a parting gift is a beautiful plus. Really we could not choose which courses were our favorite. The initial starter, along with the caviar-decked corn flan and the tacos were definitely up there. Many, many kudos to the chefs.

Absolutely stunning meal and one of my top fine dining experiences ever. I’m admittedly unsure of whether this is because I’m experiencing a bit of fine dining fatigue where it comes to French or Italian-leaning cuisines, so a Mexican dining experience was so exciting and refreshing to have.

I discussed with my partner and everything was a hit – there was nothing we didnt like. I loved the black cod taco and the bite called “Bocol” the best – who knew something could be so delicious.

I’ll give it overall 5 stars but I do think there were a few service hiccups that I think should be ironed out and perhaps just needs a bit more training for the front of house staff – our first drink listed on the menu was simply forgotten until I brought it up after we were a few courses in, the wrong mocktail was brought which my partner liked anyway so we didn’t bother correcting it, and when we were choosing the aguafresca flavor – normally speaking I find it’s very clear which person should get what flavor because I said “I’ll have ____ and he will have ____” but they ended up being switched around. I actually don’t really mind these and we were so blown away by the warmth of the front house staff who were so hospitable but I guess this is just feedback in general because I think a 2 star rating is a lot to live up to!! Regardless, I absolutely cannot wait to come back in another season and try a different menu.

Also the touches for my partner’s birthday were so cute (sparkler and a little pour of Mexican sparkling wine at the start of the meal) , handwritten note!!

One of the best meals I’ve had. It was like being transported back to Mexico City and experiencing one of the greatest fine dining meals from there, but we never had to leave San Francisco! Absolutely amazing experience through out, from the luxe, modern entry and bar, to the perfectly executed cocktails, to the impeccable delivery of each course. I think at the end of the night there were 14 courses, each were delicate and beautiful, but packed a memorable taste and texture that the photos can’t do justice to.

I struggled about what to say.
The room (including art), service and creative delicious food were amazing and a truly unique experience. I didn’t eat all day before, but was over satiated when I left and didn’t sleep well. Id like to return if they had a truncated course option or after a longer fast. Loved the place. Signed Torn

Simply phenomenal and certainly the best tortillas I have ever had in my entire life. All the dishes were absolutely stellar — not a single note. Although the cocktails were delicious, I did find them to be that interesting — they all felt very safe; would have liked to see more creativity like all their food dishes. My only slight con was the food pacing was so good at the start but by the last 2-3 courses before dessert, the space between courses felt a bit too long. But, this is truly nit picking.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had and truly the best end to end in San Francisco. From food to service and beware pairings, this restaurant deserves all the recognition it has received and more. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you appreciate true service. What they have built is truly special and I cannot wait to return. The wine program is truly phenomenal – so we did one pairing and also ordered cocktails so we could try everything. I also want to add that it’s a fun environment to be in which makes it way more enjoyable than some of the other Michelin restaurants.

Really beautiful meal, fantastic service and great music. The first bite (beans and serrano cream in a soft corn shell) and the strawberry empanadas were some of the best bites I’ve ever had. Wine pairing was good but left something to be desired, although the sommelier was excellent. Highly recommend for a special celebration.
