I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. I’d never been here before and I thought it was going to be more restaurant-style in the sense where you get seated and they take your order, but it actually reminded me of how you order at Chipotle. You pick what kind of plate and seafood you want, the sauce, side, etc. at the cashier, pay, and find a table. When our food came, I marveled at how gorgeous our plates were and how good the quality of the food was! I got the hot honey salmon with brussel sprouts and brown rice. The hot honey was spicier than I expected but still really good!

First time visiting… Had the sea bass, Cajun sauce, white rice, and asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly. Really like the ability to customize your plate. It’s not fast food so be prepared to wait some minutes but the quality of food is worth it. Can’t wait to come back and try something different.

It used to be my go-to place for quick fish and chips but I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon. The last fish & chips I ordered looked huge- but when I bit into it turned out there was a lot of batter inside instead of fish. What a cheat! It repeated on me and I regretted getting a take out. I attached a photo- yuk! Shame on them for cheating like this.

Now that this place is not as crazy crowded as in the beginning shortly after opening, we started visiting more often (But still closer to 8pm). The service is relatively quick. Three meals, side of fries and a beer was about $60. Not bad given the two sides per plate and the grilled fish. I loved the seabass, the salmon and the rock fish. Not too sure about the fish tacos my daughter had, especially the side beans were not my kind. But I must say plenty of healthy choices for the sides, including kale slaw, Brussels sprouts. The fish taste is easily comparable to places like Pacific Catch, for fraction of the cost.

I’m upset about the tipping options for takeout, using their new kiosk ordering system. During the pandemic, I’d tip at least 25%. After the virus risk had moderated, I’d tip 10% at the register, generous for takeout. But the lowest tipping option is 15% using the kiosk. The options are 15, 20 and 25. I’d like to tip the staff, as I appreciate both their efforts and the food that they serve. However, I find the current tipping options to be presumptuous. And, frankly, if everyone tipped 10% for takeout, the servers would be getting wealthy given the robust takeout business. So I’ve started to alternate when ordering, between leaving 15% and leaving no tip. Instead of 10%, the staff is getting 7.5%. That’s unfortunate, but management is not leaving a better option. Next complaint….. I’m also tired of seeing the “free delivery” option. They are only increasing the cost of meals for dine-in and takeout customers. Final issue…. after years with no mistakes, they placed the correct meal description on top of the wrong meal. The individual bagging meals was distracted by overt joking with other employees. This seems to be a recent change to the previous business-like attitude of staff, and we’d noticed it on previous visits. It’s getting casual and sloppy, perhaps new management?

It’s rare to find a casual place that has a good choice of healthy vegetables that’s not just a salad! I’m also a big consumer of seafood in general so this place was appealing.

Food here is generally good. I’ve had a great selection of there dishes and I don’t think they have ever disappointed in regards to their freshness and quality, although the portion sizes has gone down I find, especially with the sides.

Our go to SoCal Fish Grill is now closer to us! Great location Nd same great taste! We usually get the Swai with garlic butter. Side would be brown rice and their yummy brussel sprouts! This time around we also ordered the chicken tenders for my little boy and their Curry Shrimp and it was both wonderful! The place is tidy, great staff, lots of parking. Overall it was a great experience! Cant wait to be back!
