I have eaten at Cafe India, in Morristown, NJ for years and enjoyed many a meal. But things change. If you wanted mediocre for the past year or two — you missed your opportunity at Cafe India. The food had been mediocre but has now sunk to a new low. Apparently now your dinner will come with a surprise — for example a hair to pull out of your appetizer. Of course such things do happen. But than lets move on to an entree of lamb that was not all that tasty but passable for this so called eatery. The rice and bread seemed fine. The lamb dish left an unpleasant taste in my mouth that lingered which I attributed to over seasoning with spices – such as too much cilantro for my taste. Not horrible until later when Montezuma’s Revenge and severe gastric distress hit me and stayed with me. Also, anything else I had that day was typical. The service was and is great, but the food — has gone from disappointing, to disgusting, to sickening. There are other Indian restaurants in the area where you need not worry about surviving a meal. There were only four other people there at 7:30 on a pleasant Thursday night — now I understand why other diners went elsewhere or stayed at home. Very good Indian food – the best we have found outside of Asia. The owner is the chef – that always makes a difference in the quality of the food. Everything was really tasty and there were many vegetarian options (although it is not a vegetarian restaurant, also has plenty of seafood and meat dishes). We had the mango lassi, veg appetizer plate for 2, dal makhani, malai kofta, and gulab jamun. Will probably try the veg thali next time to sample more of the menu, and try some of the dishes that were labeled as the chef’s specials, as they must be pretty good.

My family and I have eaten here for 20 years. I couldn’t imagine my life without this place. Amazing, authentic cuisine. Flavors are consistent and unbelievably good. Service is fantastic (the owner is so sweet). The atmosphere inside is really nice, decor and music is great. Buffet days are my favorite. Takeout is easy. LOVE!

Food is above average, but not amazing. We went at lunch and had the place to ourselves, which was nice on one hand and sad on the other. I often misunderstand some kinds of courtesy as a kind of aloofness or disinterest, so the service was fine but seems a little disengaged.

Good food and good service. Decades ago this was under different ownership but very similar, my first introduction to Indian food and I’ve loved it since. They do dine in and take out, I don’t know if they do delivery or not but they very well may.

The food is consistently good here. The dishes that they put in this buffet are amongst some of the best Indian food dishes. The chicken is good quality and they have a wide variety. The price is very reasonable as well. Staff is also friendly. They also have good desserts for after your meal. Would highly recommend this place as some of the best Indian food in the area
