My bf got the Gyro Salad and I got the Gyro, both were fantastic!! Highly recommend them both. The Greek fries are always a must! Great service and love the fact that they are open on Saturday from am to 3pm. May not be the best pictures for the sun way shining and it was a great January day!!

I had the best Rueben I have ever eaten. They make their own dressing and it doesn’t overpower the nice lean corned beef. My husband had the Italian steak sandwich and it was excellent as well. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Prices were very reasonable and the sandwiches were huge. I look forward to going back soon.

Excellent food! High quality, great taste, a smart choice when you need “fast” food but want a healthy alternative. Highly recommend! If you like mushrooms, definitely have their homemade portabella mushroom soup. Yum! Their salads are great too.

Love this place. It was our first visit, and while we were perusing the menu she brought us samples of the soups. OMG! They were all so delicious, I almost couldn’t choose my favorite. The food was brought to the table piping hot and had tons of flavor. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Midland. We will be back again!

This place has so much potential, and I really want to like it! First off, the decor of the building leaves a lot to be desired – schizophrenic and trying to hard to be “homey”, I think if they took a lot of stuff off of the walls and went for a clean Americana feel it would really improve the experience. Menu on giant chalkboards is difficult to read, and far too big for thier capabilities. As always when a restaurant wants to serve everybody everything, many items are sub-par and a few are excellent. Homemade salad dressings are a big plus, salads and sandwiches are well made but ingredients could be better, like when you order something and everything seems too pale because of the out of season or cheaply purchased veggies. (Why use iceberg lettuce when you can experiment with so many better greens? It’s a salad, the greens are the most important part!) Service has always been friendly and reasonably quick, but due to the layout of the building it gets VERY crowded at high lunch times. Overall there’s so much to improve upon here, but it’s not bad.

Delicious food they have everything you can think of. The soup, salads, and sandwiches are to die for. Busy during lunch hours, but worth it if you have the time. last time I was there I ordered the Gyro and it was great staff are friendly and its a cute cozy cafe style restaurant.

So sorry to see Cafe American close for good. It truly made its mark on Midland and became a community favorite for many years! The food was ALWAYS amazing and the owners, Bill and Maria, became like family to mine. This place closing is a huge loss for Midland and it will be missed by so many! I wish Bill and Maria the best on the next chapter of their lives and hopefully, they never stop cooking! ❤

Typically good, but they forgot my fries on a take-out order. Wow me next time to bump up to 5☆. Update 1/10/20 – welp, here we are again. No fries. Make sure to check your take-out. Dropping to 3☆ Update 3/9/20 – had a couple take-out orders in the last couple of weeks. They are remembering everything I order! Bumping up to 4☆

Horrible experience. The portion on the seafood platter was very small, you barely get any fish and a little fries. Our Reuben was burnt, and the chicken did not taste cooked all the way.
