Bluecorn Cafe & Mercantile – Visit Montrose

A legacy of spirited mountain living and handcrafted light… In the winter of 1991, my home was a tiny, one-room cabin in Telluride, Colorado.

I had a phenomenal time the first time I went. Their chicken pesto has my heart, it reminded me of the delicious restaurants I experience in Chicago. However, I went again today to get the same thing. The chicken was very cold. When I went back and told them. The lady took it, who knows what they did, but they have me the same sandwich and it was hot, yes, but it was so soggy. I’ve never, been seemed the same sandwich if they made a mistake. It was so….. Disappointing.

A must stop by if you’re passing through Montrose or worth a short detour if you’re in the area. I got an oat milk cortado and the banana bread – both of which were wonderful. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The shop is worth perusing and we’ll be stopping back by to pick up a candle. We enjoyed our coffee while looking out over the candle production factory side of the building, which was fascinating. I love that Bluecorn feels like a gathering place for the community while still being welcoming to visitors. Hope to get to come back at some point for lunch or dinner!

Blue Corn has become my favorite place to meet up with friends and get work done. Atmosphere is top notch – and I love that there’s lots of seating spread out all over the interior. Makes me feel like I’m not having to overhear others’ private conversations like some other cafes in Montrose. Tons of awesome gift items and local goods to choose from in addition to their beautiful candles. Service is always SO pleasant, I especially love interacting with the nice guy with the blue hair Food is definitely yummy, just be aware that portions can be a bit on the smaller side.

Eclectic mix of specialty housewares and candles, with a small modest coffee bar. Quaint menu of baked goods predominantly. Coffee was excellent for the area. Wonderful atmosphere for kicking back and relaxing with a warm cup of coffee. Candles are made behind a glass wall available to viewing. Unique experience for the town of Montrose

Quiet, comfortable chairs, excellent food. Well prepared espresso drinks. Watermelon radish, pesto, and freshly baked bread for avocado toast was savory and very tasty. Breakfast sandwich was tasty but needed something crunchy. Oat Latte was well made and smooth. Many coffee blends are available; wasn’t a fan of the lightly roasted (and sour) Brazilian roast.

If you are looking for high quality light roast coffee you’d expect in the big city, this is your place. Good selection of beans, drip, and espresso. They also have excellent food and the ambiance is fantastic and unique. On one side of the shop is the cafe and a gift shop of bees wax related products and on the other side of a glass wall is a beeswax candle workshop!

What a gem! If you’re looking to take your coffee house vibe to the next level, you must stop in for a nosh. They make candles in the space adjacent, and if you come at the right time, you can watch the process. Coffees, Teas, Bakery, Breakfast items, Sandwiches, Salads, soup and adult beverages. Their food will hit the spot. Don’t forget to peruse their little shop for some unique gift items. We listened to a free concert today. It was the perfect way to start out a relaxing Sunday. Check this place out. You’ll be glad you did.

Lighting is very comfortable. Very comfortable spread out seating. Great food/drink options. My wife is vegan and gluten free(celiac) and was very happy with their offering’s. The Espresso was superb, and the Latte decadent. The bread was fluffy and amazing.
