Five French restaurateurs team up to take over a charming little bistro on the westside of Houston. The former owners of Le Mistral and current owners Cafe Rabelais — who have been close friends for over 20 years — teamed up to save another local Houston favorite, a charming little bistro on Memorial Drive. The five friends have been busy working on other projects but decided to come together and take this on as a way to give back to the community of Memorial where they each hold a sentimental history.

Country-style French bistro offering wine & traditional dishes like bouillabaisse in a cozy setting.

A cozy restaurant alongside the road with ample parking. Drive slow because you may miss it. The restaurant has a small outdoor seating, and there are indoor seatings good for small groups. Service was good. Staff were friendly and attentive.

About 6-7 years ago, I made amazing memories at this restaurant because the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. This time, the food was average, lacking flavor, and overpriced. Service was terrible and lacking in personality.

This place was amazing! Wonderful atmosphere and incredible food!! We had reservations and were seated right away. We got 3 appetizers: escargot, duck patè, and the cheese plate. They brought out warm bread. We each had a different entree: Bœuf À La Bourguignonne, Les Moules Frites Du “Rabelais” (fresh mussels), Cassoulet De Canard À “La Toulousaine”, and Le Steak Au Poivre De Luc. All delicious! We all loved out entrees and tried everyone else’s. Then dessert! They brought me a birthday Profiterole with the best chocolate sauce I’ve ever had, raspberry sorbet, Crème Brûlée, and a pistachio/chocolate ice cream-like dessert (I can’t remember what they called it). Can’t say how much we loved this place! So good!

This is a cute little Cafe style restaurant. It’s very small and reminds you of Paris if you’ve ever been. They nailed the vibe completely. There is very little seating, so I would recommend making a reservation. No cocktails sold here, but plenty of wine to choose from. The menu is very nice and has something for everyone. Our first time trying escargot and it was very pleasing. Probably will not visit again.

PRO’S: Bistro 555 is an excellent choice for traditional french provincial dishes. We had a well-dressed house salad, escargot & trout, all well prepared. Traditional french onion soup was slightly beefy & too hot. Excellent service and a modest priced wine list made the evening enjoyable.

French bistro 555 on memorial, small restaurant, feels like sitting in a bistro in Paris , you can sit inside and outside . The food was spectacular: French Provençal dishes and the service first class !

Our first time in this French restaurant since they changed of owners (it’s was before the Bistro Provence). The decoration is very nice, typical from south of France.
