The idea that we were going to sell freshly made foods and homemade items was the vision that we started our food truck adventure with. Eliminating processed foods and eating fresh seasonal items was prompted by a desire to eat Better. in our home. Armed with an amazingly extensive knowledge of flavor and an abundance of talent for creating all types of food we challenged ourselves to find alternatives for all the processed food available to us.

We stopped in to Better. on July 12th after reviewing the menu at numerous restaurants on CI. This humble food truck stood out for both price and menu offerings. Our family had the brussel sprouts, potato rocket, crabcake sandwich, Nashville hot soft shell crib sandwich, and shrimp and grits. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, was delicious. As a South Carolinian who lives in close proximity to New Orleans, I’ve tried every homemade and restaurant offering of shrimp and grits that I’ve encountered. While I’ve had better than Better., it was only at someone’s kitchen table. The Nashville hot soft shell was delectable according to my wife, because there were scant crumbs left. The crabcake was also delicious, and while I generally prefer mine broiled, I’d happily come back here for the fried any day of the week. Finally, the potato rocket and brussel sprouts were fabulous plays on traditional side dishes. They complimented the meal beautifully and would make great snacks if you weren’t looking for a whole meal. Why there isn’t a line down the block for this place is beyond me. I can honestly say it’s the best food truck I’ve encountered, and probably the best food on CI. I had hoped waiting a bit to write the review would temper my effusive praise, but it was just that good! My compliment to both the young lady who made excellent suggestions and to the chef who prepared the meal.

Best food ever! We got the hot Nashville fried chicken sandwich, shrimp salad, and brussel sprouts, and everyone was a work of art for the eyes, nose, and belly. Will return next time we’re in town. Legit amazing.

A great food truck experience. We ate here with our family while on vacation. Our group had the brussel sprouts, potato rocket, schnitzel, vegetable panini, crab cake sandwich, crab bisque, clam chowder, burger, and hot chicken sandwich. Nearly everything was excellent, except the clan chowder, which was kind of bland and thin. Brussel sprouts were a highlight, and the schnitzel was great as well. We were pleasantly surprised and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

My girlfriend mentioned there was a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich in Chincoteague so I had to try it. I lived in Nashville for 13 years and Hattie B’s, which I personally would choose over the original Prince’s Hot Chicken, is always top of my list to eat when I travel back there. Having been let down so many times by people trying to duplicate Nashville’s claim, I had high hopes when I heard the Better. owner had traveled there and came back with a seacret or two. Well this is as close as it comes outside of Nashville!

Good food. Had crab cakes, burgers, shrimp salad, and brussel sprouts. Crab cake sandwich was great, brussel sprouts weren’t my style but the portion was large

I was on the fence about what to get so I got the Turkey Sandwich and Brussel sprouts. That sandwich was amazing. Brussels were very good as well, very large portion but I think I wouldn’t get them again because I can only take them in small amounts in general. That’s just me, nothing wrong at all with Better.’s. I really want to try the Soup though.

Better is aptly named and about sums it up! You had “better” know what you are doing when you put shrimp and grits on the menu on a seafood island like CI…and they were better than the best we’ve had in a long time…and we know our shrimp and grits…Let’s talk the New England style clam chowder…!!! C’mon Man!!!??? Fresh, hearty, seasoned with fresh herbs, tons of clams…yes and yes…completely addicting…going back to ask if they will sell me some in quarts to take home…Kids loved the potato spiral on a stick and everything came out hot and fresh…legit restaurant on wheels and family owned and operated! Thank-you Chef and family…great food Great service…Better not change a thing!

Very good food and service. The eating area consists of picnic tables with umbrellas. They’re often nice to sit at, but when the bugs show up, forget about it! Be sure to have a plan “B”. Also, their hours seem to be inconsistant.
