The idea that we were going to sell freshly made foods and homemade items was the vision that we started our food truck adventure with. Eliminating processed foods and eating fresh seasonal items was prompted by a desire to eat Better. in our home. Armed with an amazingly extensive knowledge of flavor and an abundance of talent for creating all types of food we challenged ourselves to find alternatives for all the processed food available to us.

The name “Better” really does say it all about this eatery in Chincoteague! The food quality was better than just about anywhere else we grabbed a bite to eat for lunch during our stay here. The food was out fairly fast and everything just tasted freshly made and left us satisfied after a hot day at the beach. The salad was loaded with eggs, meat and assorted greens and vegetables. Sandwiches were big, filling and tasty. Get the rocket potato!

Awesome food truck with fresh ingredients. Salads, sandwiches, crab cakes , and even entrees. Friendly service. They were very patient and helpful when we couldn’t decide. We got a club sandwich with smoked meats, shrimp salad on a salad, and a chicken Cesar wrap. All Delicious and no leftovers, it was so good. They even gave us a chocolate dipped strawberry on the house because it was Mother’s Day , what a kind gesture. We will definitely be back. There’s no shade so if you don’t want to sit in the sun, just be prepared with a big hat or take it to go and have a nice picnic somewhere on the island, or pick some food up and take it to the beach

This was definitely a letdown for us, but obviously reviews are strictly based on opinions and personal preference. So you may absolutely love Better. We did not.

When ordering, the young girl taking our order couldn’t answer an ingredient question for me. No problem. But she couldn’t ask the older lady because she was on the phone. The entire time. Another young girl answered the question. I dunno…it’s like the whole exchange just gave inexperienced and unprofessional vibes.

Hubby got an underwhelming cheeseburger. Had to get back in line to ask for condiments which weren’t offered to him when ordering. I got the shrimp pesto. Shrimp were large, fresh, and tasty. The pesto sauce was just ok but turned to caked up mess that looked like Crisco pretty quickly because eating outside in chilly weather isn’t conducive to keeping pesto sauce hot and normal consistency. Lesson learned: Don’t order pasta from a food truck. Pasta needs to be plated in a kitchen/dining room on a warmed plate, not eaten out of a carry out container outside on a picnic table in 60 degree weather. I’m faulting myself for getting pasta and warning others of choosing a different menu item more than blaming Better, but it did dampen my expectations. The flies and seagulls were laughing at me.

Based on all the good reviews I was really looking forward to trying the roasted brussell sprouts. Huge fail for me. I was comparing them to some I had eaten the week prior from a restaurant in DC (where we live). Those had flavor using pink salt and lemon juice and the texture was dry & crispy like they were made in an air fryer. Totally amazing! The brussell sprouts from Better had no flavor besides VERY burnt and VERY greasy. It tasted like they were soaked in oil and then just left under a broiler until they were completely murdered. Sadly, after we had just a few, we tossed them in the trash.

All in all, I do recommend you try this food truck. All local businesses should be given a fair shot. I’m also keeping in mind that maybe we just ordered the wrong thing or it was an off day. So for us, it’s a solid 3 stars but I can think of other places I’d like to spend $44. Yep. $44 for this very mediocre food truck meal.

We were doubtful if a food truck could really have amazing or fresh food. There are so many food trucks on this road so we didn’t know which one to pick. Our cottage staff recommended this one. The food was superb! I had the shrimp pesto entree and my friend had a spring salad with chicken and the Brussel sprouts appetizer. Insanely good.

Quality food made from fresh ingredients and cooked to order. One (or more) of your meals while visiting the shore must be eaten here. Every bite from each order was excellent. Fried chicken sandwich, fried Brussels, shrimp pasta…all spot on.

Everything I’ve tried here is delicious! Seriously. I’m sad that I lived here two years before trying it because I missed out on some yummy eats. My favorite? Turkey and bacon club! I THINK they said they might stay open all winter. Did I imagine that? Come to think of it, I’m gonna drive over tomorrow to see because my mouth is watering. Lovely spot. Check it out .

I’ve eaten a LOT of amazing meals, but what Better served up truly blew me away. From the first bite at lunch to the last course at dinner, this wasn’t just “good for a food truck” — this was top restaurant-/chef-quality food made with the care and soul of something homemade.

What stood out:

Ingredients are superior: fresh, vibrant, thoughtfully sourced. You can taste the difference.

Flavor complexity & balance: every dish had layers — texture, seasoning, brightness — that surprised me in the very best way.

Consistency: lunch was excellent; dinner was breathtaking. No drop in flavor, no shortcuts.

Homestyle warmth: despite the chef-level execution, everything felt comforting; every bowl, every plate, felt like something made with love.

If you ever see this truck, stop what you’re doing and try it. I wish I lived closer! Highly, highly recommended.

I was on the fence about what to get so I got the Turkey Sandwich and Brussel sprouts. That sandwich was amazing. Brussels were very good as well, very large portion but I think I wouldn’t get them again because I can only take them in small amounts in general. That’s just me, nothing wrong at all with Better.’s. I really want to try the Soup though.

My girlfriend mentioned there was a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich in Chincoteague so I had to try it. I lived in Nashville for 13 years and Hattie B’s, which I personally would choose over the original Prince’s Hot Chicken, is always top of my list to eat when I travel back there. Having been let down so many times by people trying to duplicate Nashville’s claim, I had high hopes when I heard the Better. owner had traveled there and came back with a seacret or two. Well this is as close as it comes outside of Nashville!

I meant to complete this review a year ago when I first tried it, but just now realized I had not completed my review until my girlfriend, who was in Chincoteague, stopped by to bring me one home for dinner three whole states away to Fenwick Island (Ha! It’s a little over an hour away). A big thank you to the gentleman for the extra care you showed her in transporting the sandwich! While I’m sure there is other great food in Chincoteague, I can’t imagine ever visiting there without picking up this little reminiscent taste of Music City! You all nailed it!
