My favorite date night spot in the Syracuse area. My fiance and I go frequently and have never been disappointed, with the service or the food! These pictures are from my mother’s birthday, it was her first time there and she had a wonderful experience. We started with a blueberry lavender Margarita (i believe), I got mine with extra lavender syrup, and it was delicious! We are big bread people, we always enjoy their bread, and their butter is one of my favorites around, a bit sweeter which I do really enjoy. The French onion soup was delicious, My filet was cooked perfectly, as always.. the creme brulee was very good, my son had the chocolate tower which he found very amusing and also delicious. All around the food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and attentive, I couldn’t suggest this place more for a fine dining experience near Syracuse.

I have had good meals at Arad Evans in the past, but in writing my first review of the restaurant, I’m basing my comments on my most recent experience (late summer, 2023). My wife and I took a friend here for her birthday. Happily, our guest said she enjoyed her garden salad, salmon dish, and mini ice cream sandwiches. My wife and I were not so fortunate. Over the years I’ve enjoyed Peking Duck at a number of Chinese restaurants. So, I was happy to see it on the menu. Since Arad Evans is known for serving gourmet food, I thought their version would equal or, perhaps, best the dishes I’d eaten previously. Instead it proved the worst I’ve ever had. The most important step in preparing Peking Duck is to cook the duck low and slow to render the fat and crisp the skin. The chef failed in both these regards. There was a layer of fat on all the slices as can be clearly seen in the picture below. Some of the slices also included browned, but totally soggy and limp, skin. First thing I did was to remove all the skin and fat and place it on a spare plate to discard. I then filled the pancakes with duck, scallions, diakon, and hoisin sauce and rolled them up without including the traditional crispy skin. The pancakes were so thin, they leaked and fell apart as I attempted to eat them. In addition, the hoisin sauce was different from the slightly sweet, umami-rich sauce I was used to. To me it tasted like barbecue sauce. Finally, everything on my plate was at room temperature. Hard to believe, but my wife had a worse experience. She ordered a pasta dish with scallops. The pasta formed a single firm lump held together buy a tasteless coagulated sauce. The scallops numbered only two and they were oily, over salted, and undercooked. She found the dish inedible and left it on her plate. Although we did not request it, the restaurant kindly partially compensated for the pasta dish by not charging for one of our desserts. The desserts were excellent, but quite small as can be seen from the photos. The final disappointments of the evening came upon paying the bill. They wanted to add a charge of 3.5% of the total bill for using a charge card, so we paid in cash. They did add a 20% hospitality charge. We strongly object to this practice. For one thing, the wait staff does not get their normal tip. To correct for this, we added an additional tip. Positives included good service and very good atmosphere, but we’re unlikely to return unless it’s for a burger and dessert in their bar/bistro.

This was my first time at Arad Evans and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my strawberry and gin cocktail, as well as the bahn mi baos. I took a chance with the Peking duck for my main course and I’m afraid that was a bit of a miss. The duck was overcooked and the skin not crisped at all unfortunately. I would definitely go back again but I’d probably go for a safer entree choice next time. Also red wine was poured probably a bit hastily – looks like I got a teaspoon full of deposit in my glass. The service was great on the other hand so 4 stars for that. Our room had multiple TVs on the walls so that’s one less star on atmosphere for me.

My first visit Saturday. Very nice ambiance, however I found the service to be less than sophisticated, the portions extremely paltry and presented with little finesse. Prices were excessive in proportion to that which was served. No doubt they really need a new chef .I can’t imagine going again. Not sure why it’s considered a desired dinner destination. In addition, I was very disenfranchised by the mandatory 20% added to the bill for the waiters” benefits ” which he clearly stated.

Went for the first time for my wife’s 20th anniversary of her 30th birthday, and the food was extraordinarily good! Service great, ambiance great, highly recommend. One of the servers shared her birthday, only 25 years later! Highly recommend for a special occasion out.

Recently went there this past weekend. The food was so much worse in quality compared to our first experience. Everything from what they paired the dish with, to the flavor profile of the plate, and even how the food was cooked. Unrelated we also got charged a b.s. 20% hospitality charge (the 2nd most expensive thing on that bill).

Delicious food, staff were all very courteous, professional, and helpful. The environment was very unique for a restaurant, I really enjoyed the room we were in because there were only 3 tables in the whole room! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because my steak was undercooked. I asked for medium well and it came out medium rare, and I wasn’t even asked to cut into it to check when it was brought out. But the rest of my experience here was very good, I’ll definitely come back for another fancy dinner out!

Ordered takeout and was highly disappointed. No flavor profile in the food. We got the burger and flatbread. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and the portobello mushroom was like rubber. Flatbread crust similar to the taste and texture of cardboard. Would like to see you guys sort out the issues in the kitchen because it overall has a nice atmosphere and food was great a year ago.

My wife and I got married here in Nov 2022. We met with ownership/staff multiple times before our event and were treated with the utmost kindness and respect. We were scheduled to use one of their event rooms upstairs. The venue has a beautiful appeal and has been restored over the years to keep its charm. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Above all, though, was the cuisine. AMAZING. I would highly recommend the swordfish and the filet mignon. Every single member of our party could not speak highly enough of the food quality and taste, what a treat! If you’re ever in the Syracuse/Fayetteville area and would like to try some very fine dining at an affordable price, then Arad Evans is well worth the visit!
