I’ve been searching for delicious Indian Food in the valley for years. I used to dine at my favorite Indian food restaurants in Los Angeles and I’ve been craving the flavors I used to love. After some trying and searching, I found Al Hamra and I was immediately impressed at the 1st bite. The garlic naan is amazing! Crispy , but still perfect for dipping and folding and just the perfect amount of fresh garlic. The chicken tikka masala was excellent! A perfect blend of seasons and the mild version I had was superb!! I will be returning many times!! I’m so happy I tried Al Hamra!

While we very much like their food, had a terrible experience this evening with customer service. Ordered directly through their website, upon arrival was told it had not registered and had to wait another 20 minutes for the food. So lesson to apparently use DoorDash instead of their website in the future. Would have been appropriate to be offered wine for the inconvenience, but they did not. Then about 6 min after driving away I received a call that “you forgot your naan.” Well, they forgot to give it to me, but that’s one way to phrase it. So went back and again nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. Oh and to top it off, the food was not wrapped well so it leaked in the car.

I’ve eaten at over 100 Indian restaurants in the US, Europe, and Asia, including the top ranked restaurants in London, and Al Hamra N. Scottsdale is hands down the best of any I have visited. Their chicken makhani and lamb saag are amazing- just outstanding. I’ve never had a bad dish here. The only things I can fault are 1) the price is a bit high (though worth it) and 2) I’d like to see the owner be more social with patrons (I’ve seen him lurking around, but he never says hi).

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Valley! I have ordered take out from here countless times and every single time it has been delicious. My family always starts with the Tandoori wings which are so juicy and flavorful. For the mains my favorites are the Dall, Paneer Makhani and the Chana Masala but everything I’ve had on their menu has been amazing. Don’t sleep on this place it is so so good!

I’ve been coming here for 6+ years and ordered take-out and dined-in every day of the week over that time. They used to have two locations: this location and another at Shea and FLW. Many of the negative reviews are based on accidental orders at the wrong location, or the time it takes to make the food. Al Hamra closed the 2nd location on Shea during Covid, so there’s now no confusion about location. Additionally, it takes time to make Indian food. Each dish is made fresh, cooked in an authentic Tandoor, which is where the “Tandoori” comes from in Chicken Tandoori. There is nowhere East of the 51 that does this. This provides authentic Indian. The shop has toned down the food to Americanised the food a little, but it’s still amazing.

I do like this place. When I travel into town, and wherever I stay in the area, I find time to drive up to enjoy a dinner with them. The service has consistently been good, the restaurant is clean and cool. The food is really good. Chicken tikka masala, roti, raita, mango lassi….I usually order this and it’s consistently good. The masala sauce has a fresh and balanced profile, and they always ask me for my spice level (1 to 10) and I find a 7 is about right for me. Just hot enough but not too much that I can’t enjoy it. In the Phoenix area, I have yet to find Indian food that can compete with Al Hamra.
