Came for a Saturday birthday brunch. Bottomless mimosas in cranberry, pineapple and orange. Great deal for all you can eat and crab legs are included. Food was well seasoned. The grits were so good but almost on the brink of being too salty. The mac and cheese was good too but could have used more binding. Maybe a thicker cheese sauce to make are all of the noodles are covered and bound. I’d eat there again for sure!

I was super excited to take my partner here for his birthday. But we did not have a good experience. We didn’t receive service for a very long time and when we did we got the bare minimum. We had to ask for the complementary bread, our food took forever to come out and was cold. Everything looked nice but no attention was gave. My partner ordered the owners special and it came out with no steam and cold as mentioned earlier. They also stated they don’t do birthdays so that’s something to consider as well as the price for two people, we paid $227 , which our food did not come up to that price and received no receipt. This restaurant is more casual than anything. I really wish we had a better experience because I had high expectations for a black owned restaurant. Our appetizer also came out with our food.

Food was really good; the bartender Gigi I believe was awesome. We ordered bar bites and they did take some time to come out although it wasn’t super packed. It was worth the wait though. We had a few items to share: calamari, steak & cheese egg rolls, wings, & crab dip. The egg rolls were my favorite. The crab dip although it didn’t say it was rather spicy; tasted bomb despite that. The bartender also whipped me up a very good & cute mocktail. I would visit again & try more items.

I have so much to say. This place had so much potential but failed. Upon entering, we waited at the host dress for 3 minutes. The host was there but was talking to a group so we waited. After getting tired of waiting we walked up to the podium to get a table. Later on we found out that this was all of the employees talking and not actually the host serving a customer. Was seated and was told a server would be with us soon. A server never came. We really just wanted water since we were thirsty. The server finally came and we ordered water. This took forever to come. So long that we had to ask another waiter to get us water. When it came time to order, everyone got the shrimp and crab (mine without shrimp) pasta and I ordered the crab fries as an appetizer. The fries took 20-30 minutes to come. When it finally came it was really good. We then wanted refills on water. I tried to get the servers attention who was on her phone charging it not to far away. She wasn’t paying attention nor doing her job. Ended up having to get water refill from a different waiter. Another order of crab fries came, we told the server this wasn’t ours. He said ok and left the food on the table. We told our original server who stated that the kitchen doesn’t care if they brought it to the wrong table and that we could eat it without charge. Finally, our food came. The pasta was great. I have no issue with any of the food it was the service that was horrible. If you do go be leery that you may not get the best of service. They also charge a gratuity no matter the number of people dining.

Cool place. Much bigger than you would think at first glance. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I had the short ribs, jerk chicken wings, and Mac and cheese. It was good, but the short ribs were a bit too salty. Otherwise I had a good time there. The cigar lounge is closed off so you won’t get any second hand smoke if that’s what your worried about.

There was a gentleman outside to open the door which I thought was a nice touch. The hostess immediately greeted me and asked me did I have a reservation. I was seated once my husband came in from parking the car. Sidebar, parking is a bit of a challenge but hey it’s D. Upon sitting down the waitress came over introduced herself, poured our water and let us know that she ordered our bread basket. The BREAD is everything!!! It comes out with an herb olive oil as well as honey butter. Due to the weekend they were out of a few items but we were definitely able to find something else to accommodate us for the evening. We had the bone-in ribeye and the shareable mashed potatoes. My husband had the smoked honey garlic wings and for dessert sweet potato cheesecake. My steak was cooked medium well. It was a good cut, it did have marbling which I was fine with. Though, it was good, I did desire for it to be a bit more flavorful. However, it is some thing I will try again. The wings were amazing! The mashed potatoes were just OK. The cheese cake was good as well.

I visited 1865 for the first time this past Sunday and boy did I have a good time! Their brunch was about $70 but it included bottomless mimosas, endless crab legs and a buffet brunch for 2 hours. Our server was attentive and prompt and made sure we had a great time as we were celebrating my friend’s birthday . The music was lit and the vibe of the establishment was positive. Not only was the food good but the overall vibe of 1865 was everything. I don’t live in DC but I definitely will be return.

This spot is awesome! It has multiple rooms with different vibes! Live music, Live DJ, great drinks and food is delicious on the late night menu! The waitress Brittany in cigar lounge is amazing! My new favorite spot I went twice in 1 weekend.
