Hearty Italian food cooked by an Italian-born cook who owns and operates this hidden gem. Very casual relaxed local atmosphere. I LOVE this place! The food always hits the spot. Huge portions. You’ve never seen a bigger calzone. Great lasagna. Great pizza. Great everything. All home made. The sauce is perfect, and it’s also for sale so you can take some home.

You wouldn’t think much of this place from the outside but we’ve been there a couple times and the food was great. They make their own bread which is great , we found out when we ordered a meatball grinder. Also excellent greek salad. Definitely will go back, we look for to trying other meals.

We are regulars at Zia’s! We have never had a bad meal. My husband has tried almost everything on the menu. Cono is a fantastic chef!!!! Everything is made to order and Julie is the best waitress ever. Whenever we bring someone in, they rave about both the food and the service. Best place in town!!!

Excellent food and waitress was very nice. I had the Monte Carlo ravioli. It was delicious. All of the food was homemade. The waitress kept refilling my iced tea during my dinner for me. They are very pleasant and generous here. I enjoyed my dining experience.

Just had an absolutely incredible pizza today. I grew up in Manhattan and I know something about pizza. Zia Maria’s food is remarkable. You wait a little longer than at other places, and then the made-to-order feast arrives.

My wife and I met friends there for lunch; it was our first time there. We were greeted by chef Cono who not only took our order but prepared us some of the most OUTSTANDING food we’ve ever had, anywhere at any price. I HIGHLY recommend Zia Maria.

Always a great meal. Muscles and linguine, bruscetta, eggplant parmigiana. Service takes a little while but everything is cooked to order. Friendly waitstaff. Hi Julie! Maybe I’ll go again tomorrow!

Food is almost “ok” deepening on what you get. Service is pretty pathetic. Our “greeter” didn’t say a word when we asked for a table and was rude to other customers throughout the evening. Should have been a warning sign. My red wine was served almost frozen. My wife’s meal tasted OK, but mine was very bland.

I just by chance met the owner’s son and he told me that his father’s name was the same of my husband’s, Cono. I asked where they were and he told me of the restaurant, Zia Maria in Canaan, CT. Well for our 48th wedding anniversary we decided to make the trip from New Milford, CT to have dinner there and were so happy we did! The food was beyond excellent and the service was phenomenal!!! We are planning a family get together there for another wonderful experience. Thank you, Cono and your staff for a most fabulous time. We will see you soon. And if anyone reading this is contemplating eating at Zia Maria’s, don’t hesitate, you will be pleasantly surprised.
