Really good seafood shop. I tried Ecuadorian ceviche (serrano) here and it was really really good. It came with the choto or corn and plantain snacks that Ecuadorian typically eat. The packaging, shop, and service were all very nice. The crowd tends to be really upscale and well dressed though.

A beautiful restaurant with potential. It seems to be lacking staff and coordination. I went at a peak hour when every table was full, though I didn’t have to wait to be seated. It did, however, take a while before any waiter noticed I had been assigned a table to introduce themselves. It’s terrible to sit at a table ignored waiting to know which waiter is assigned to your section.
The staff were clearly over capacity with the full restaurant. You could sense the panic from the staff trying to keep up with the mountain of orders. The linen napkins ran out, stacks of dirty plates were visibly accumulating in the kitchen preparation area, and the bartender was frantically going around the restaurant trying to recover glasses for the drinks he needed to prepare. My rice arrived with a piece crab shell in it, even though I didn’t order crab. Good thing I’m only allergic to shrimp, but I warned the waiter that this type of cross-contamination can be very dangerous for some customers. In the caos of their peak hour, the open kitchen format exposed the restaurant to the staff’s frustration with one another, yelling at and scolding each other with disrespect. It greatly disturbs the intended ambiance of the restaurant to see staff mistreating and belittling each other in front of all the customers. It’s truly sad. I tried to order a second glass of wine to cope, and it never came.
I’m sure this is a wonderful restaurant when it isn’t full, because they clearly cannot manage full capacity. I do wish them well as they work to increase their capacity and provide additional training to their personnel.

Seafood was not impressive, small clams, small muscles , and on a very expensive side.
Did not try the big fried fish but it looked good. Wine was great.

We went for the $29pp all-you-can-eat Carnaval brunch and it was incredible. One note for improvement is that on their Instagram, it just said it started at 10am but didn’t have an end time. When we got there at 11:45am, they told us it ended at 12:30pm so it probably wasn’t a good option for us, but we chose to do it anyway. That is important information you should be putting on your Instagram, ZFood!

However, we’re so glad we went. Henry provided excellent, friendly, and professional service, and even spoke decent English. The food was incredible – it was basically a seven-course tasting menu. Such a great deal. We will be back! Highly recommend ZFood, the food is always excellent and the atmosphere is casual (we took our baby and felt just fine), fun, and scenic.

11/10 experience. From start to finish. Service was great, they have a sommelier to help with wine. They paid real attention to us and made us feel very welcome. Told us lots about the food and Quito itself. Best seafood I’ve had in South America. Get the oysters!

Good. Good quality seafood, with good atmosphere, and very friendly service. I don’t know if it deserves all the accolades and recognition that it’s gotten. It is a solid choice if you want good fish options. We also ordered the cheesecake after which was good but again, not great. I found this place mentioned on several blogs so I had grand expectations. We ordered the fish of the day which had great presentation but seemed only flavored with salt, and too much of it. The wait was extremely long and the vegetables and potatoes were entirely too salty.
$100/for 2 people included 2 drinks each, 2 entrees and a dessert overall good experience.

We went to Zfood for lunch and had a great experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. We started with some delicious pacific oysters with a variety of mignonettes and a prawn Bloody Mary which was an excellent drink to start with. For our mains we ordered the seafood platter and the seafood stew (Cataplana), they were both great, the seafood was perfectly cooked and the portions were generous. I would certainly recommend a visit to Zfood if you want good seafood and will definitely go back for more
