To be quite honest, this particular Mexican restaurant is located in a less than desirable side of Oak Ridge… In my opinion. So in spite of being reluctant to try it, we entered… We thought we would just get beers and chips and salsa and give it a shot… The waiter, an expert at his skill set, positioned for us to try the grilled jalapeños with sour cream and cream cheese, and their bacon wrapped — sold! They were so incredibly delicious!!! He then began telling us about a second Treat they have on their menu and it’s their Mexican corn. It’s an ear of corn with their special line based mayo and other maybe Parmesan cheese or something like that… I’m saying I was only able to give you a photo of what was left and I’m surprised I didn’t just go ahead and eat the ear itself… Simply amazing… Simply delicious… And the service was excellent!

I took my lady there for a late dinner, the music/area was a little too loud for me but I have little rat ears. So that rating is suggestive. But here’s some key points to my rating.

-The server Ana was an absolute sweetheart, very patient and kind.
-The wait time is a little quick, but almost average like any restaurant would be.
-The tables and chairs, booths were all comfortable.
-The food was amazing. I wasn’t a fan of the shredded chicken, but I did enjoy the flavor. I also enjoyed the guacamole being made the right way and containing citrus.
-The rice was cooked thoroughly and had a very nice fluff without being dried out and tasteless.
-The chorizo and cheese dip was super rich and creamy with flavor.
-The fish tacos had a very nice balance to them. None of the toppings or fish itself overpowered the other. Crispy and fluffy. Over all very tasty and cooked right.

I’ve been here before, but didn’t leave a review then. Both times visiting this establishment has been good, the food is great and the people are very nice. Definitely a great location for a bite to eat!

I’ve been here twice. First time I got the fish tacos, they were fine, kinda average. This time, I got the shrimp el diablo, and let me tell you: this is delicious and HOT, both temp and spice. Holy cow, so spice and delicious. Plenty of huge shrimp., thee whole dinner I could not eat it all. Their beer prices are very reasonable, 3.50 for a pint of dos xx.

Decent and fairly fast Mexican food with excellent service. Prices are reasonable and many choices. You are there for the food not the Ambiance. My food was tasty but came out at room temperature. Zandunga dip was flavorful but not very thick. A bit runny and just above room temperature.

We visited for the first time and it was great!! We were greeted as soon as we entered. Server was friendly and informative. Food arrived quickly and hot. Salsa and queso were great as well! Look forward to returning for some more dishes!

Update from my previous reviews. I hadn’t been to Zandunga in a year and was thrilled to revisit!

Mole is something I look for and have been disappointed at other establishments. Zandunga’s Mole Mexicana is fantastic! Moist shredded chicken with grilled onions and jalapenos, fresh sliced avocado, rice and beans.

My friend had the trio enchiladas and was commenting on the moist chunks of pork. Really nice presentation too.

What really stood out was the service. A wonderful family run business. I recognized the faces of our waitress and manager and felt the familiarity and their family values. It was so nice to be there. I will return on a regular basis.

The margarita’s were excellent, great prices – especially during happy hour! The salsa and cheese dip are okay. Fajitas were delicious. Cool atmosphere inside the restaurant. I love the art. I wish the service was better and more attentive.

This place is a 4.5. Read my other reviews if you don’t believe me. Carne Asada tacos and Molcajete. The portion to dollar ratio is above average. The Molcajete can feed two people. The taste is superb and is af the Guadalajara tradition.
The staff and service were great, and we will return to visit again.
