This is a great concept; we love this place! We had a wonderful time here with our friend, and it was such a fun and tasty experience. There were several things I loved that set this place apart from other hot pot restaurants:

1) It’s like a froyo shop for hot pot where each person can get exactly what they what from hundreds of choices of fresh ingredients. This is so much more fun than having to order plates of meats or veggies by table. It’s also a great way to try new things without having to commit to too much of it.

2) By having a wall of countless fresh options to add to your personal bowl, those less familiar with the cuisine (like me) can decide if they want to try it by looking at it instead of reading through lists and wondering what certain things mean.

3) Everyone can have their own bowl and their own choice of soup base. And there are so many types of soups that one could make: meaty, noodly, vegetarian, etc.

4) Everyone can pay separately based on how much they get. Sharing costs at typical hot pot restaurants can be problematic for those who don’t eat as much or don’t need as many meats/veggies…but then often end up sharing the cost.

5) Since it’s pay by weight, you don’t have to eat a lot to feel like you got your money’s worth. Order and pay for exactly as much or as little as you want.

This is so much more fun than typical hot pot restaurants!

I noticed some reviewers commented that their soup wasn’t hot enough but I don’t think most people would feel that way. They arrive piping hot and stayed hot during the entire time we were eating.

Yonny Mini Hotpot & Suancai Fish was such a fun, “build-it-your-way” hotpot experience and I’m already planning my next trip back. The first thing that stood out was the ingredient bar — it’s huge, super organized, and clearly labeled (English + Chinese). There were tons of options from fresh veggies and mushrooms (enoki, oyster mushrooms, leafy greens) to tofu varieties, noodles, fish balls, and a solid mix of meats/seafood. I also appreciated that the pricing felt straightforward: they advertise the same price for meat & vegetables $14.95/lb, so you can mix and match without feeling like you’re getting upcharged for adding protein.

Once we got seated, the broth was the star. The suancai-style soup had that addictive balance of tangy and savory with a gentle heat that builds as you keep eating. Everything we added soaked up flavor fast, and the pot stayed hot and bubbling so it felt like a full on comfort meal. The sauce station was another highlight. I made a dipping sauce with chili, garlic, and scallions and it took everything to the next level.

Small details made it even better: they had multiple rice cookers set up including multigrain rice plenty of utensils, and the overall space looked clean and bright. Service was quick and helpful when we had questions.

If you like hotpot and want lots of control over what goes into your bowl, this place is absolutely worth it. 5/5 from me.

Here is my review after eating at this restaurant a few times. The employees are always attentive, accommodating, and happy. The food was fresh and delicious. Customers have two options. They can either order dishes from the menu or pick up a bowl and tong to choose food then go to the back counter to weight their food and pick the soup to go with the food. There is also a small area where customers can get regular rice, five grains rice, pickled cucumbers, fresh fruits, and Asian soupy dessert. Will definitely visit this restaurant over and over again.

Inviting casual atmosphere with wide menu variety of broths (or you can build your own hotpot at the ingredients bar). If you want a low/mild spice suancai hotpot, I recommend the Traditional Laotan Suancai Fish + add the $2 Snakehead Fish bc it was very soft and yummy!! The a la carte Grilled Giant Squid Skewer was really good too! I came here with family and really recommend it if you want Chinese suancai hotpot 😀

I love suan cai yu and I wanted to try this place for a long time. Food and flavor is really good and I will definitely come back! I got the traditional bowl and it was definitely worth the $20.

I came with my parents and flavor was a bit strong for their Taiwanese taste buds, so our server brought out plain broth to help us dilute the spiciness and oiliness. Zoe was very kind and friendly and knowledgeable. She is a great server!

This is our first time at Yonny Mini hot pot. The wait staffs are very attentive and kind. They took their time to explain the menu and check on our table. I ordered traditional loan suancai fish which is delicious. They also have different varieties of sauce. Self serve side dish of cucumber, fruits, and rice.

I’m a big fan of malatang and I am overjoyed to have another option in the area.
The atmosphere was very coherent and the service was pretty good, but the malatang was exceptional.
The variety of ingredients was impressive compared to other malatang restaurant. I even found my favorite item, the fish roe fortune bags. This great variety comes at a very reasonable price of ~15/lb. If that was not enough, there are also free rice and fruit for dine in customers. My only criticism is that the classic soup base wasn’t as flavorful as I would like, but the sauce bar makes up for that.

This place is so good that I was already thinking about what I would order when we returned to Yonny in the near future.

Great tasting hot pot but I couldn’t finish it. Would probably share with my wife next time and also opt for a protein dish like the chicken stir fry which looks tasteful.. great experience overall

Tried it out with family. We ordered the original, laksa, and tomato. We all wished the broth was hotter. The tomato one my daughter ordered didn’t come with enough broth…..wasn’t even covering her noodles, so her pot looked like it was half eaten when delivered to our table. Her food got cold within 10 minutes and she didn’t finish her dinner. As per the tempura side dish….definitely not worth the $9 for them.
Not sure if we would go back.

This establishment just opened but we wanted to see if it was good to make it a malatang spot to come back to. I always crave soup during the cold and today Yonny hit the spot! Their pricing is $15/lb for malatang and they also have menu items to order like the suancai fish or golden beef.
We got the original bone broth & princess tomato soup. Both are delicious and did not disappoint! I would compare the tomato to haidi soup broth. Bone broth is very warm and comforting. Not too strong mala flavor if that is something you dont like! (Me)
There is many many options to choose for malatang ingredients and the dining area is spacious. I will be coming back!!
