Ordered salmon, yellowtail, ikura, rainbow roll and philly roll. Everything was very good. Only caveat is that the rainbow roll wasn’t traditional in that it had a sauce over it. If you like it traditional then ask for no sauce.

The sushi here is really good. We’ve dined in, but this last time we had takeout The ratio between rice and fish is perfect and unlike other places they give you a good amount. Everything we’ve had, has been very flavorful. The only one thing was the pokey had way too much juice. I prefer to eat the fish not so soaked. Overall, it never disappoints.

I had an amazing experience at Yanagi Sushi in Northridge. The fish was super fresh—some of the best I’ve had in the Valley—and the rolls were packed with flavor (highly recommend the Honma Roll). It was as comfortable as eating at home. The sushi chef, Steve, was endearing, funny, hospitable and very welcoming. The wait staff was attentive and never let the water (or Sake) go low. Our server, Emily (sp), was amazing! She was always there to fill water, clear plates or flirt with my 1 year old grandson. She never rushed us, she was attentive to whatever we needed and she gave us space and time to relax and enjoy our time. The sushi is amazing. Fresh, clean and firm. We’ll definitely return.

Our first time at Yamato Sushi even though we’ve lived in this area for 26 years. It’s tucked away in a low profile strip mall and the interiors are dated, but it felt clean. I ordered onion rings thinking they were tempura battered but they were more traditional, served with a side of ranch. I was disappointed when I saw the plate but they were actually delicious – thin cut and extra crispy. They didn’t feel heavy either. My husband tried the baked mussels and they were delicious. The sauce was rich with mayo and eel sauce and for $10 it was a a good value. However, it’s the sushi that was the star here. Hubby ordered tuna sushi and it was a beautiful color with veining I’d never seen before. His first bite showed on his face. Perfection! I ordered the Albacore Lover roll was amazing! Cold, spicy, with crispy onions and so very fresh tasting, and the presentation was beautiful. My young daughter has celiac disease and they were great about helping us choose and prepare items she could have without fear of getting glutened. The staff was very attentive (we had 4 people waiting on us!) and very friendly. It’s a smaller place, was completely when we arrived, but we didn’t wait long. We will definitely be back!

The best Sushi joints are always in a strip mall and this one is no exception. Lots of repeat customers, local vibe. Can be busy on nights and weekends but staff always try to accommodate. Great selection of sashimi/Sushi/rolls and options for bento
