If you’re in Yorkville and want a slightly old-school Japanese teppanyaki experience, I highly recommend this place. The food isn’t especially remarkable, but given today’s prices, it’s very fair for the service, and watching the teppanyaki show is fun.

The staff are friendly, and the chef at the teppanyaki grill is both kind and entertaining. It’s a great experience—especially if you have kids, they’ll absolutely love it.

Good place for Japanese cuisine
Have. Wide choice available the only thing being it is difficult for vegetarians as there is only one veg dish available in the large menu for vegetarians
The salmon sushi as well as the main dish was good. Chicken lunch was nice as well.
The veg selection Yaki Udon though specifically made keeping in mind the veg requirements was not very tasty could have been better

The teppanyaki sirloin steak was good—tender, and juicy. The live cooking show was entertaining, with the chef’s skills adding a fun element to the meal. Service was friendly and attentive.

Areas for Improvement:
– The lobster was overcooked and overly salty, making it less enjoyable than expected.
– The vegetables also leaned too salty. If you prefer lighter seasoning, consider requesting less salt when ordering.
– The Dragon Roll was a bit overly sweet, and the eel portion was surprisingly small, which was a letdown. Two people $170 including tax. I would want higher quality food. Need a few tweaks in seasoning and cooking precision.

This teppanyaki restaurant has a elegant Japanese interior style, and the staffs were all warm and friendly. Our chef was super entertaining- he did knife tricks, wrote “I ❤️ U” with egg white, and even teased us by pretending to serve the rice but pulling it away at the last second like a Turkish ice cream vendor!! He also made an onion ring volcano . It was definitely a memorable experience.
That said, the food itself was just average. The fried rice was a bit too oily (the chef put too much butter), the tempura batter was too thick, and while our steak was fresh, the portions were really small. Considering the high price, we felt it wasn’t good value. Overall tho it was a fun and enjoyable experience, perfect for a family or friends gathering.

Sushi was great. In steaks filet mignon was better than New York sirloin and shrimp dish was delicious too.

Great hibachi experience! The chefs are fun, energetic, and really know how to put on a show. They make the whole cooking experience entertaining and interactive, which makes it perfect for groups or celebrations.

The food was delicious and well-prepared, and the portions were generous. Prices are fair for both the quality and the experience you get. Overall, a really enjoyable night out — I would definitely come back.

This place is such a fun experience! I took my ten year old when we were visiting Toronto and we had a blast. The chef was very talented and entertaining with his tricks. The food was great. We had the sushi and the teppanyaki and both were delicious. I took my son to many fun attractions while in Toronto but lunch at Yamato was the highlight of his trip!

Food was average in terms of both quality of ingredients and taste. Teriyaki ribeye and fillet mignon were both okay. Scallop and shrimp are also very average. All meat were cooked with heavy sauce, soy sauce and some butter/cream so basically tasted that sauce instead of food. Fried rice was okay also. Overall it’s more like watching the show rather than having really good food. Service was okay. Price of beer tends to higher than most of restaurants in town. Cheese cake was good.

A 5 star review for ecxellent service. The manager and staff took great care of our group, and we appreciated that a lot. The chef’s performance at the grill table was very entertaining, so definitely a good place for a group dinner with some fun experience. The place was not the best place for authentic Japanese foods I must say, the tastes were modified to accommodate western people, as >90% of the guests in and out while we were there were western . Might be because I am not a big fan of grill foods, I found the tepanyaki meals were just above 3.5, while shushi could be 4 (nothing special on the shushi dinner), shasimi 5 (super good!). The desserts we had, Japanese cheesecake, caramel, ice cream, were all excellent!
