Visiting from Atlanta, I stopped in at this little spot on Woodson Road and it did not disappoint. The building itself is colorful and hard to miss, with the Vienna Beef sign proudly up front—so you already know the hot dogs are going to be legit. I ordered a Chicago-style dog and it came out exactly how it should: poppy seed bun, loaded with onions, sport peppers, tomato, and a big crunchy pickle spear. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. No ketchup in sight (as it should be).
Also tried the burger and fries—burger was juicy with that classic griddled flavor, and the fries were hot and crispy, served in a generous portion. They even hit that sweet spot where the fries stay crisp under ketchup.
Overall, this place gives you everything you want from a true hot dog and burger stand: quick service, affordable prices, and quality food that tastes homemade but with that old-school Chicago stand character. I love these types of businesses. Small, locally owned business at the corner of Woodson and Brown. They have an extensive option of hot dogs, but also burgers, fries and fountain drinks. I love the fixings they have: celery salt, relish, saurkraut, sport peppers, etc.

I don’t know why it’s taking me 20 years to write a review. I’ve been coming here forever. The service is always great everybody in there chill easy to talk to while taking your order and making your food. I haven’t found anything there that I don’t like today was no exception as I got a chili cheese dog with a pickle. I opted for no onions. The fries were scorching hot, the bun was fresh, the hotdog tasted great and the chili cheese combo with a bite of a pickle Really brings it all together. don’t let the size of the building full you you won’t be disappointed whether you go inside or go to the drive-through.

Fries are better than you get in a Chicago neighborhood place. On the skinny side and the regular order was plenty for both of us.
I’ve lived here for over a dozen years but this was my first visit. Next time I crave a good hotdog, I know exactly where I’m going.

I hit a home run when I discovered Woofies. This is the kind of hole in the wall burger/hotdog joint that I love and appreciate. I notice that a lot of regulars eat here which is always a good sign. Very friendly staff and a great overall vibe. The burgers are amazing. Smash burgers with fantastic flavor. The few times I made it to this joint, I couldn’t bring myself to try the hotdogs because I love the burgers so much. Finally I gave the hotdog and corn dog a try and they left me speechless. The Woofie dog exceeded my expectations by a mile! What a tender delicious experience. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried them in NYC and Chicago too. The corn dog was also a treat. Who doesn’t love a good corn dog? The fries are crispy and golden and go perfectly with the burger or the dog. I will continue to go back when the opportunity arises. Great place, great food, great find. Try it… you won’t be disappointed.

Hotdog and hamburger joint. Small place maybe 8-10 barstools. There was a steady stream of people in and out. They’ve been around since 1977 so that should say something. Best Chicago style hot dog I’ve ever had. Perfect ratio of ingredients and fresh ingredients. The chili dog was very tasty too. Good flavor and good sloppiness. Their fries were awesome too. Nice crisp to the outside and soft on the inside. Only regret is not buying a t-shirt.
