Reviews
Cons: At best the food was bland, but I would say it didn’t taste good.
Ordered Beef and Broccoli , Chicken and Broccoli. Taste was very underwhelming and each container was about 80% broccoli
General Tso- The Dinner portion was more like a lunch sized portion. But the taste was awful it had a raw fish taste to it. We threw it out.
Growing up on the Westside most my life ,I have been there every couple years and each time I wasn’t to fond of it. But always want to try and patronize small business when I can. It had been 4or5 years since I had been. For the price and what I got. That will be the last time I can justify going there. That being said I see that they have great reviews and people like their food. And I hope they can continue to operate
Everyone has different tastes and im glad other people have had better experiences there. I only write this review just as a critique and not to deter anyone from eating there. Just reporting my experience to provide feedback and an honest review
The food, was a solid 4 star. The flavors werent bad as I tried two dishes from their menu to give them a fair shot. I’ve had Chinese from many states and sides of towns, and I will say the rice was perfectly cooked. Still moist and complimented the veggies well. The chicken for the General Tso and the shrimp from the hot and spicy shrimp were cooked to leave a tender flavor.
Now from a price standpoint, unacceptable. Twenty dollars for what could be served out of a mexican food truck, is a let down. At the same time, the price was at least subsidize by good cooking.
All in all, its a solid 4 star visit, one I would come to again but I will look around for better bang for the buck.
Beware credit card users: there is a sign at the cash register saying they charge 4% if you use a credit card. Since we get 5% cash back on food purchases, this fee negates most of the benefits. (I should note that this fee would add 73 cents to our total, so there are still dollars unaccounted for.) Whether or not you use cash back credit cards, this alone is worth going somewhere else. I should also note that this fee was not communicated to us over the phone before we took the time to drive there and pick our food up.
It is such a shame that they overcharged us in two different ways, because the garlic broccoli was phenomenal. However, considering the untrustworthy nature of this last transaction, we will never again buy food at Wok of China. If you decide to risk it, please do yourself a favor and triple-check your order and demand a receipt: you might be overcharged.
Edit: We have since tried resolving the overcharge with Wok of China. My husband printed out their menu from their current website and took it down there to show them the discrepancies. They refused to give him a receipt (again), and told him that they know the menu on their website is incorrect (they blamed it on a third party). They also refused a refund of the discrepancy. They showed him a menu they claimed was correct, but it did not have most of the things we ordered on it save for the egg rolls, so we’re not sure why they took our order from the old menu to begin with. We ended up filing our first-ever dispute with our credit card company over this and our issue was finally resolved. This whole experience was horrific. Please be careful with your money going here.
