Great local place to hang out and watch the games. Bartender from another place recommended we go here and it did not disappoint! Friendly people even with our 2 Bengals fans in tow, excellent customer service, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced!

I’m writing this review so everyone is aware of the experience we just had. Last week, we stopped by this place on my birthday and really liked it. However, tonight, when we simply decided to go out for a drink, we were honestly grateful that we managed to leave without being physically assaulted.

The weather was freezing. The moment I stepped just one step inside the door, a man at the entrance—who I thought was on the phone—started yelling at us for several minutes. We weren’t even given a chance to explain the situation. His aggressive hand gestures, raised voice, and threatening behavior forced us to leave in fear.

It felt like his only intention was to provoke a confrontation. The staff’s attitude was rude, unprofessional, and disturbingly aggressive. Just a week ago, we were able to sit inside with a baby, yet today we were almost attacked simply for taking one step inside without immediately showing our IDs.

This place has now become somewhere I wouldn’t even walk past again. I will be sharing this experience with everyone around me so no one else has their night ruined by being shouted at and intimidated.

I was walking around while my girlfriend was getting her nails done and decided to stop here for a drink. I had no idea what kind of bar it was but it seemed like a cool spot to watch some baseball.

Bartender was nice at first but after I asked for a drink they couldn’t make, the mood changed and I’m not exactly sure why. I worked as a server/bartender for many years so I’m always make sure I treat all service workers with an abundance of kindness and patience. So, I know I wasn’t being rude. I was perfectly fine with getting a beer instead.

I tried making conversation but I was met with a brick wall. Others were making conversation just fine, so I know it was mainly a thing with me.

I had some apps but they seemed like they were brought in by either Sysco or US Foods, so nothing special.

Asked for the check and after I paid I made sure to say thanks and to have a good rest of the day, but was once again met with no response. Every other person that was paid their tabs was met with a smile and a friendly exchange.

This seems like an alright spot, but my experience left me feeling upset. Not mad, but I was just looking for a nice spot to chill and didn’t mean to make anyone upset just by asking for a drink.

Bouncer kicked us out not sure why. (no explanation- I happened to be with my black friend?) Avid drinkers, and the bartender/buss boy ripped a bottle out of my hand. Not a great experience start to finish. Maybe go if you just need a quick shot between strip and Lawrenceville on a journey.

Busy, sports, food. As busy as it gets, the folks here are still able to maintain that neighborhood pub vibe where everyone can feel welcome and like they always have room for one more. The wings are crispy, even the ones with wet sauce. draft beers come in the taller glasses, 20oz?

Enjoy it on a busy night, but I also encourage you to swing by again on a quiet evening and just take it for what it is, a relaxing place to chill out and unwind a little. Folks are really laid back in this bar, I’ve never seen anyone super wound up or acting a fool. They just don’t abide it.

Tater tots basket is humongous – fit for the whole team. Grab a basket full and chill out with your crew. Good times!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A spiritual experience disguised as a bar
William Penn Tavern isn’t just a bar. It’s a lifestyle choice. I walked in for one beer and walked out spiritually reborn, smelling like buffalo sauce and regret. The second I sat down, I could feel my arteries whisper “don’t do it” while my soul screamed “extra ranch.”
The wings here are so good I briefly considered proposing to them. The “Kitchen Sink” sauce changed me as a person. I blacked out somewhere between “medium heat” and “I can see colors now.” I swear I saw George Washington in the steam rising from my plate, and he told me to order another round.
The crowd was a mix of college students, sports fans, and one man who might have legally been a couch. Everyone was screaming at TVs like their mortgage depended on it. The bartender had the confidence of a man who could solve all of life’s problems with a Jägerbomb, and honestly, he might be right.
At one point I lost track of time. Was I there for two hours or two days? I can’t say. But I do know that when I left, I had a new tattoo, a new best friend named Carl, and a firm belief that this bar could solve world peace if given enough Coors Light.
If you come to William Penn Tavern expecting a quiet evening, you’ve made a terrible mistake. But if you come seeking chaos, wings, and the kind of happiness that only deep-fried poultry can bring, welcome home.

This one hurts to write. William Penn was once my favorite bar. Since moving to the new location a few years ago, I’ve had nothing but negative experiences.

Just now, I asked if I could order food and was just told no. I’m not intoxicated, I wasn’t rude. They just cannot handle their front of house with their existing kitchen.

Don’t waste your time.

Dear William Penn Tavern,

I just wanted to thank you for running an excellent establishment. I came for happy hour tonight, and had some Guinness and some onion rings. I absolutely love onion rings, and I was very happy with the sizable portion that you provided. The server was excellent, and always greeted us with a smile. I especially love that you have the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip still up. That’s one of my favorite comic strips and it’s a great addition to the restaurant. keep up the great work and I can’t wait to come back. Cheers.

Your friendly neighborhood bar with several screens for sport, touchtunes to for your listening pleasure and fantastic wings. The bar staff were pleasant. The patrons were courteous. The beer selection is large and inexpensive. They also have a variety of NA beers to choose from as well. $1 wings all of time. They are extra crispy and the “kitchen sink” sauce is divine. Perfect, chill, spot to catch a game, beer, wings and some great conversation. Thumbs up.
