I was so excited to finally try this place …… I’m baffled by how this place gets so crowded every night. When my husband and I walked in, the place smelled strongly of sewer. I ordered the wienerschnitz, but it was so tough I had to chew and spit it out. It had no taste, other than a nasty oil flavor. Sauerkraut tasted cold like they just opened up a jar and threw in a bowl and their hot potato salad was okay… My husband had their special which was meatloaf with a gravy mushroom. It tastes like a clump of ground meat. The restaurant served canned mushrooms instead of fresh ones, even though they have a Saturday market with fresh produce. Their so-called original German bread was a clump of stuffing with no seasons rolled in a ball… The potato pancakes were deep-fried and lacked any potato flavor. The only thing I found edible was the sauerkraut balls which they give you tube balls for $10. They did put it on a bed of iceberg with a couple of limp pickles… We each had a beer …. We spent $100 and left most of our food on the table. Very disappointing. They better get their crap together because there’s no way they can stay open serving this kind of food at this price.

Truly felt authentic, their sauerkraut balls are sauerkraut with some sort of meat, out of this world. The schnitzel is so so tasty can’t stop thinking about it, I got the European sampler platter.

We hadn’t eaten German food in many years, so this was fun. Good food, generous portions, served quickly, and friendly workers. I started with the Sauerkraut balls, then I had the Bavarian platter and my wife split the Snitzel with her sister. Then we all split the Apple strudel. The crowning touch was live music by an accordion player, dressed in German clothing. He was very good, playing both German and American pop music. We’ll be back to try other options!

In the mood for something a little different this is the place! Our waitress was super friendly, nice atmosphere clean and the food was great. My favorite was the sauerkraut balls, never had them before so glad I got them. The pretzel with the beer cheese sauce was amazing too A+

The best food in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. I have been to Berlin and the food was not as good as Sandra’s. You can tell it was prepared with quality ingredients and love. The menus had all the classic German fare and some with an American twist. There are a few days with buffets that look like a great deal. I have been in the area for 10 months and have not picked a restaurant worth coming back for till I had Sandra’s today. This is a must do if you are in the area

Amazing food, drinks, and staff. Every positive review about this place is true. We tried the fried Brie with fresh strawberries and cream and it was delicious. The margarita had fresh strawberries and blueberries and was extremely refreshing. The beef tips were tender and we got to listen to live music while eating. The plum dessert was light and hit the spot. They offer a buffet and we will try that the next time we are in. It’s a wonderful local place to stop in and eat at where the staff will treat you very well.

This place serves very authentic German foods. It has a very European feel to it. I use to frequent a Bavarian restaurant that was very similar. You don’t feel rushed while you eat, the owner walks around and visits tables and it almost gives you the comfort feeling as if you’re eating at home.
There is live entertainment on the weekends, where a gentleman or sometimes a lady plays the accordion which adds to the atmosphere.
The German beer is always great, the fresh bread is delightful, and again, the meals I’ve eaten there have been on point. I will point out that there usually isn’t a chicken entree or much seafood, but the salmon is great, but about the only fish dish you’ll have the option of getting.
We’ve eaten just about all the desserts they offer and they have been wonderful as well. It’s definitely a treat eating here as it takes you somewhere overseas for just a little while.
I would like to also point out that our service has always been great. This time we had a hard working young lady named Cassidy. She was very busy but took time to keep us full and happy while offering a little chitter chatter, which we enjoy. Upon leaving, she gave me 3 pieces of candy for my 3 (5) year old boys. And wished them a Happy Easter. Was a fine ending to a great experience and meal. Thank you very much to Cassidy, Sandra and the crew!!

Seaworthy Outreach & Charters
This is our new local go-to for German food in downtown Punta Gorda! It’s a dining experience on the weekends with the addition of traditional German live music . With a German mom, I grew up eating these dishes and I’m often disappointed when I try to find these traditional meals outside my mom’s kitchen. But owner Sandra’s got it down! She’s usually in the back cooking up dishes herself, but you can catch her whisking through the dining room, greeting guests and saying hello.

Second time to Sandra’s I was there last year when down from Wisconsin visiting friends and went back again this year and had a different dish each time, enjoy both meals and the owner and staff are very pleasant, owner came around and asked how everything was and engaged in additional conversation with our group, I would recommend and hopefully your experience is as good as mine.

We had the weißwurst, spätzel, tomato & mozzarella sandwich, and finished with an amazing apfelstrüdel
The weißwurst was juicy and full of flavor. The bierkäse with the spätzel was SO good! And the strüdel … Tender pastry, full of flavor.
