Wonderful atmosphere and staff. The food was well-prepared and featured classic Maine favorites with dashes of poignantly unexpected glitters of flavor. Not overbearing and garish, but delightful and flavorful. We stayed in the area at a resort, and this was our only meal away; our whole group agreed that it was the best meal we’d all had while we’d been there, and we concurred in wishing we’d come for another.

Best restaurant I have ever eaten at in my entire life! My wife and I love this place. We live in Maryland and one of the biggest reasons we will definitely be going back to Maine is for this place!! The food is amazing and exceptional, they take pride in their cooking and service. Even their bread basket is delicious! People who work their are so friendly and make you feel at home and like family. Their desserts are mouth watering and taste like your grandmothers home baked goods!!

Delicious, great portions, classic diner menu items along with some Maine inspired selections. Waffles were great, French toast is very good too! Served with real maple syrup. Also had the lobster scrambled eggs which were wonderful! Aye here three days in a row.

It’s been well worth the wait to have this Cape Porpoise institution back again, refreshed and better than ever. The owners have a lot of respect for the town and the history of the restaurant, and the menu is a perfect mix of traditional Maine dishes with fresh and local foodie flair. The rush of customers in their first week is an indication of how well it’s been received. More than worth waiting for a table, but don’t come expecting a chain restaurant run by robots. The Wayfarer is owner run and operated and is very much a family business, with lots of locals in the house. Prices are fair and everyone’s friendly. Please relax, enjoy and leave your attitude behind!

A few days after the Wayfarer reopened I had a lovely lunch experience. The servers were delightful, helpful and overall nice. The new menu was a hit. The owner even came over and we spoke about the new interior, chef and some of the great new things. The Wayfarer is a staple in Cape Porpoise and we missed them all Summer long. I am so happy that they are back as a part of our small community. Leave your attitudes behind, this is a wholesome locally owned and operated business in vacation land. Hang out, relax and enjoy the local flavor! 🙂

This local favorite has been there for years, and through several owners and chefs. Our first nite I had the haddock (baked in a ramekin) and my wife had the salmon. Both were very good, but not spectacular. Stopped by for lunch the following day: my haddock sandwich was delic and my wife loved her burger, but I thought it was a bit dry….split decision.

Horrible experience! I called ahead and made reservations for 10:30am. When I got there, the hostess said they don’t do breakfast reservations and made sure I knew that she wasn’t the one that took my reservation. So, I waited to be seated.

The atmosphere was lovely and we were seated immediately. We started with a mediocre breakfast. The concept of lobster benedict and lobster scramble were overpowered by bacon and very little hollandaise sauce. Since the lobster was sweet and tender, we thought we’d try again for dinner. We were immediately disappointed when the full season menu was not in effect so we couldn’t get the lobster dishes we saw on their website. We started extremely peppery poutine that wasn’t hot enough to melt the cheese. The stovepipe salad was overpowered with vinegar not palatable. The waitress cleared both hardly eaten dishes and never asked if we liked them. Finally the stuffed baked haddock, was dry, overcooked, overly peppered and drowned in parsley. In fact parsley covered the potatoes and asparagus. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the waitress as she cleared our half eaten plates. She apologized and said she’d tell the chef. She became very anxious and brought our bill without asking us if we wanted coffee and desert.

Great for families, but you have to ask for the kids menu. They don’t have one printed, but our server let us know what kids dishes they had. She also brought over a few books for the kids to look through while we waited at our table for the food. Oh, and the food was great too! We went for lunch and weren’t hungry for the rest of the day.

The Wayfarer provides a terrific BYOB dining experience with high quality ingredients under their new chef. Our dinner was terrific from start to finish and the standout items were the sweet and spicy brussel sprouts and the lobster mac & cheese. One of our favorite restaurants in Kennebunkport.
