Their menu has lots of choices. I visited twice in my one week stay in the area. The oatmeal bowl is large and delicious. The huevos rancheros was good. Well made cortados and yummy baked goods. Lots of tables as well as counter seating.

Washington Street Coffee House — A True Community Gem

I absolutely love this place! Washington Street Coffee House isn’t just a café — it’s truly the heart of New London. From the moment you walk in, you feel wrapped in warmth. The space is beautiful, with windows that wrap all the way around the room, letting in the best natural light. Add in the plants, the comfortable seating, and the easygoing vibe, and it instantly becomes one of those places where you want to sit, breathe, and stay awhile.

What really makes this coffee house special, though, is how deeply rooted it is in community. They don’t just serve coffee; they take on local challenges and turn them into a mission. It feels like people helping people here — like a little hub of kindness tucked into a corner of New London. Every visit reminds me of how powerful a caring community can be.

And the coffee? Amazing. I usually get a mocha, and it’s consistently perfect — rich, balanced, and exactly what I need to start (or save!) my day. Their classic breakfast sandwich with bacon is so good it deserves its own paragraph. Simple, satisfying, and absolutely delicious… it hits the spot every single time.

Their coffee cake is another must-try. It’s always fresh, soft, and wonderfully moist — the kind of treat that makes you smile before the first bite is even finished.

If you’re looking for a place with great coffee, great food, and even better people, Washington Street Coffee House is it. It’s more than a café — it’s a little pocket of joy and connection. I’m so grateful to have found it!

The best coffee in New London, lives here.
Great atmosphere, and whether you want a quiet corner, or a bit of chatter, this is the place.

I read here, and sip coffee, and it’s quite peaceful

One of the best places near me to meet up with friends. Food is so good, great drink options and a cozy open space to sit and eat.

Came into the coffee house this morning, it has a lovely local feel and the lady at the counter who also is the owner was very welcoming. The bagel and cookie we ordered were lovely and would highly recommend. The flat white I ordered however was as close to resembling a flat white as a rooster is to laying an egg. It wasn’t on the menu so it’s my own fault but overall the Washington Coffee House is the solo ray of light in what is an incredibly sad town.

Everything I want in a coffee house. Consistently great food, clean chill atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Bakery items are delicious and varied, apple crustada was delicious the coffee they brew is very palatable, like, I’d feel comfortable taking g my very persnickety Grampa, And! my super hip daughter here, yknow? High ceilings, tall big windows gives it a very open feel, great place to work or read. There’s one of those electric fireplaces that gives a nice warm n cozy vibe, so it’s not so big that I feel… like I gtg. Easy place to chill and just be, highly recommend. Oh, and it looks like they use milk from a local dairy, so that’s awesome.

We have been in the US and Canada for almost a month and this was one of the best breakfasts we have had. To top it off we also enjoyed good expresso coffee. Service is friendly and the vibe is good, not too many keyboard junkies here :=] . We intend to go back tomorrow morning.

Today I walked in and waited about 20 minutes in line for a coffee, which would’ve sucked but the person behind the counter was so on it. Engaged with customers, taking orders before people got to the counter, honestly this person made the entire experience great. Had a big order of 4 different coffees and can totally relate to how busy it was and how that must have been frustrating but everything went very well. Very impressed with the service and speed of this person.
