Warehouse Buffet: Indulge in Hot Pot, Korean BBQ, and Buffet Delights

-It’s always a shame to see a place go downhill, but the good days of Warehouse Buffet are LONG gone. The moment you walk in the door you can see clear indications of cost-cutting decisions that have led not only the food to go downhill, but also the service itself that used to be somewhat decent when more wait-staff were employed and were trained to actually provide good customer service.
BEWARE: The lady who co-owns this place is literally the most passive-aggressive, apathetic, and judgemental person in this establishment. Now that they’ve lessened staff, she frequently goes around tables not in a way that meaningfully attends to customer’s needs but rather polices and judges customers’ requests and manner of dining. She had the audacity to ask our party whether we really knew how to cook or dine kbbq and did not believe not only us but also other parties around us when she was told that the sides/sauces bar was emptied and lacked refills for 10 minutes+.
Their meats and other food items used to be decent or good but now it is clear that their turnover is way too long (due to decreased patronage), with old meats being served and their other items having an aftertaste and being minutes away from going bad. Several members of our family got the banchan and immediately could not eat most of it as items like the cucumber kimchi were exorbitantly salted to mask the aftertaste and smell that would signal the ingredients were no longer fresh.
Our party genuinely felt bad for their staff who all looked overworked, including our server who not only served food but was also the sole person assigned to change grills, clean tables, and refill the sides bar & ice cream machine.
During our visit, we observed the unequal attention of staff between the entire half of the restaurant that had smaller parties seated and a smaller corner with 2 large groups seated of about 15 people each. The smaller parties were all pretty neglected when it came to service, orders, and even the time it took for them to be seated despite half of the restaurant being empty. It seems like this establishment thinks having some group reservations will be enough to keep business afloat, but they need to seriously re-assess and improve their food and most importantly their service to all other customers and parties regardless of size if they really want to survive long-term.
We will no longer be recommending this place to people we know and we hope this restaurant takes serious steps to improve before it’s too late.
The food itself was good, however they forgot to add the combo items. I didn’t realize until I reached home, this is unfortunate and could have been avoided. The staff needs to have a process to double check and verify order before giving it to the customer.
During our last visit, while sitting near the soup station, we were told something very upsetting: apparently the tips customers leave at Warehouse Buffet do NOT go to the servers, but to management instead.
If this is true, it is very disappointing. We leave tips to thank the employees who work hard and take care of our families and friends.
Customers deserve transparency about where their tips are really going.
Let me start with the KBBQ, the brisket was shockingly lean… like scary…. No fat content AT ALL. I do not recommend. Definitely go for the beef toro and pork belly instead. Bulgogi was decent as well. My favorite was the marinated boneless short ribs! Marbled and tender.
And for the hot pot… the veggies were really fresh! Loved the mushroom and tofu options… but OH MY GOD. The broth… tom yum was not good. Bland and too sour. It did have a good spicy kick to it though. The “broth refills” also looked like straight up water… scary once again.
FYI – The biggest tables they have are for 8 people!
Shoutout to our waiter Orlando who was friendly and decent enough to actually make sure we and other customers around us were being properly taken care off, compared to the lady owner who ignored our requests and was suspicious of my mom being a senior (I’m sure she wanted her to pay full price since business was slow that day ).
