Great place to learn some history on Huntsville. We had brisket. The brisket is good. I would have liked spicier bbq sauce. Gareth thinks they had the sauces switched. The original was possibly in the spicy container. It was not spicy. However, the meet was good.

Just ate here. Awesome little hole in the wall joint. Service hwas great. Food was amazing, probably the best pulled pork I’ve ever had. The decor was pretty cool too and I loved the historical information that was the reason for the name of this place. Only thing I did not care for was the sauces and it’s not that they didn’t taste good because they were good, just personal preference on sauces. I prefer a mustard/vinegar type bbq sauce and these are tomato/ketchup based. Honestly the meat is so juicy and flavorful that you don’t even need any sauce.

We ran into someone at the truck stop who recommended this place and I’m so glad we stopped in! The menu had pulled pork nachos, but I asked if I could have brisket instead. Absolutely delicious! I couldn’t even finish it all.

Enjoyed our first visit on “National Brisket Day”. I thoroughly enjoyed my brisket stuffed baked potato and my wife enjoyed the brisket slider with macaroni and cheese! The “Boots Beverage” fountain drink offerings were awesome…my first time to try their product. The restaurant was clean and the Ledbelly music and the old Prison Rodeo decor was nice.

Stopped in for lunch based on the reviews and it did NOT disappoint. I ordered the 1 meat plate with sliced brisket. Can’t go wrong with brisket! The brisket was so tender that I couldn’t even cut it. It just falls apart. Their BBQ sauces….wow. The regular sauce is great. As for the spicy sauce…….now, I like a BBQ sauce with some kick. And, this sauce KICKS. Proceed with caution! I asked the gentleman behind the counter for his suggested side items. There were several! This little gem makes a lot more than BBQ from scratch! I chose the baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans are amazing! They are made in-house. I cannot explain what sets the baked beans apart from others, but IT WORKS. For dessert, my bestie ordered banana pudding and I ordered pecan pie. ALL of the desserts are made in house from scratch! YOU NEED THIS BANANA PUDDING IN YOUR LIFE! This is not the box/packet that you just mix with milk and let set. NO. This tastes like you are eating an actual banana! And, the pecan pie is to die for! The filling is so smooth that it’s almost “creamy.”

Mr Bill and I love Mr Hamburger, 1836 Steak House, and La Mision restaurants in H’ville TX, so it was natural to try the sibling of all those eating establishments: Walls Pecan Smoked BBQ. North of H’ville off Exit 118 on Interstate 45, it’s a good sized eating place that also delivers and has a good take away business. Tucked in a travel center, it may be easy to overlook. But DO try it. Decent portions, decent prices, good brisket, pinto beans, terrific fried okra, awesome loaded Mac and cheese. Food is served on disposable plates and utensils which is common in H’ville. Check out the photos of the menu – robust offerings. I LOVE that the place is dedicated to the TDCJ workers to whom they extend a 10% discount. There’s a large dedication poster in the restaurant attesting to their respect for the workers in our prisons….tough and not always thanked.

The first time we visited Walls, it was an accident. We’d pulled off 45 for gas, and chose the hole in the wall bbq joint instead of the chain chicken place next door. Our return visits have NOT been accidents. Next to what we create at home, this is the best BBQ we’ve encountered anywhere, let alone in Texas. Should mention that we are self-admitted BBQ snobs. This place is worth any amount of wait and every penny, plus the staff are friendly and accommodating.
