Great atmosphere and service. Very clean. Outdoor dining on the rooftop with a full bar too. Huge menu with a lot of great choices. Pictured is the fish tacos with chips & salsa, chicken street tacos & the salmon wrap lunch special with cottage cheese. All three very good! Looking forward to going back to try more things & some drinks off the great drink menu.

First time eating here. Everything was great. The restaurant itself has such a cool vibe. Walked past a couple hanging out and playing cards. Lighting was great and the restaurant was very clean.
Staff was great, especially our server Zoie! We were seated and got appetizers very quickly.
My wife and I have had cheese curds in Wisconsin and these tasted exactly the same. The rest of the food was very good including the drinks.
Definitely stop by and give it a try! We will be back the next time we’re in Ames.

Stopped in for lunch. Short wait, but 15 min wasn’t too bad. Nice sports bar feel, clean and well kept. Service was quick and both drinks and food came out fast. Ordered the Wallaby burger – not sure how this was the first time having gravy on a burger, but it was awesome. Mushroom Marsala gravy was a perfect fit, no need for any other sauces. The gravy was so good I wished I had it in the fries as well. Also ordered a mermaid water cocktail. Great taste, well layered, fresh fruit. The server was attentive and friendly. Overall a great experience.

Wallaby’s is your average sports bar. The drinks were good and the food was pretty average. I had the Hickory Bacon burger. The flavor was balanced for the most part. Sometimes, the caramelized onions would overpower it, but it wasn’t a terrible thing. I must have gotten the bottom of the frys because I got a whole bunch of smaller cold ones. The service was a bit slow, but I think it was because they were training a new server. Overall, it’s pretty average, but it was expensive for just average food. The total for two people was 70 bucks with a tip, which is expensive for what we had. We had a drink each and one entree each.
Edit: I have since revised Wallaby’s a couple of times since my first review. It is still a sports bar but I have tried a few different foods and they have improved! I recently had a chicken cesar wrap that was really good. And their fry dipping sauce was excellent. However, I did order the Samson Cesar wrap but the chicken was honestly what I was hoping for. Plus their outside dining is really nice!

I have always pushed to go here and my wife has always not wanted to. I tell her it’s a cool location and a fun ISU sports themed establishment. So we have went here 3 times in the past 2 years since we are from out of town. Each time we leave disappointed and wish we would have ate elsewhere. Usually the service is very slow, the bathrooms are extremely disgusting and the food is average at best. I left my half drank Old Fashion because it tasted like sugar water and was more red than a cup of cool laid. Ames has other options that are way better for the same or less price. I explained to our waiter that the men’s restroom was dirtier than my college house back in the day after a rager and he laughed and said “We have a company come in to clean it at night so we don’t do anything with it during our open hours”. It wouldn’t hurt to maintain it. Toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor and the entire floor was had standing water. This place could be a very nice go to in Ames if they would work harder at cleanliness, service and drinks.

I personally love everything about Wallaby’s, as I have been there many times. However, I continue to have the issue with my fish and chips and spinach artichoke dip. I love both, however, my fish and chips are always much to greasy and for some reason there is powdered sugar on my spinach and artichoke dip. I want this establishment to continue to thrive, but I want these changes to be made. I have never seen better service than I have experienced at this great place of business. Some servers that I really noticed during my time at this place was Samantha and Cameron. There was great service at the host stand as well, I think her name was Nora.

Food and drinks were fantastic. The fried mushrooms are the best I’ve ever had. Our waitress was very friendly but a bit slow. It was a fairly busy night but my review of service is always based on if the drinks were allowed to go empty. That happened twice tonight.

3/5 would eat here again. bloody mary was well seasoned with a healthy amount of seasoning and pickle. breaded chicken sandwich was lowkey amazing. salmon on the other hand lowkey x2 ruined my life. very fishy unfortunately ): sad salmon wrap pictured.

The service, waitress, food, and drinks were absolutely incredible! I had a pear martini and a jalapeño popper burger, and a buffalo chicken fry appetizer to die for. Would highly recommend!

Great meal at wallabys tonight. Food was amazing drinks were even better! The service was impeccable. Our server, Mike, had great recommendations and a very kind soul. His deep lovely brown eyes really tied the whole experience together. I will be back wallabys! (Specifically for Mike:)
