Reviews
The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and beautifully done — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable and excited to be there. The staff? Absolutely phenomenal. Kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
Now let’s talk about the sushi… hands down the BEST sushi I have ever had. Every bite was incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and bursting with flavor. You can taste the quality immediately. The presentation was stunning, and the ingredients were top-tier.
This wasn’t just lunch — it was an experience. Three generations at one table, all completely impressed. We will absolutely be back. If you’re looking for stellar sushi and an unforgettable atmosphere, this is the place.
But what really elevated the entire evening was our server, Kaye, who was absolutely exceptional. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, offering thoughtful recommendations that were spot-on. She was kind and attentive without ever feeling intrusive, anticipating what we needed before we even had to ask. Her genuine enthusiasm and professionalism added a personal touch that made the meal feel truly special.
Between the incredible food and the outstanding service, this restaurant has earned a permanent spot on my list of favorites. I can’t wait to come back—and I’ll definitely be asking for the Kaye as our server next time!
Dishes that used to cost $12 are now $18. And the servings are now very small. Otherwise, The service is good, attentive and polite. The ambiance is cozy, but could use some freshening. Emma, our server, is always sweet and accommodating.
Overall, we love the food so much (honestly, you cannot find Japanese dishes and sushi of this quality anywhere else near where-the-hell-is Casselberry, FL), that we will be returning frequently.
And, unlike downtown Orlando or Disney, parking is convenient and free!
Ambiance was really nice. It’s very cozy. Dimly lit, a small hallway leading to the sushi bar. And on that sushi bar was a displayed giant tuna head. I was shocked. It was a very cook centerpiece to the restaurant.
Service was also very nice. Our server was very nice, from Japan herself, so she helped us pick the best options for us. Food came out at a good pace. We didn’t feel hurried or anything. Drinks kept flowing all night.
Apps
Ninja (spicy tuna, shiso and squid rolled with nori then tempura fried; topped with chili oil, eel sauce, masago, scallion and sesame seed). This was a lot of fun, never had it before. Nice flavor combo with the tuna and the squid, made a little earthy with the shiso, and then made super crispy with the tempura frying.
Tako Karaage (Japanese style deep fried marinaded octopus). Another thing I’ve never had. Nice little chunks of tentacles fried in the super crispy karaage style. Not too chewy, served with a nice, slightly spicy Japanese mayo. Love it.
Mains
Samurai Roll and Ultimate Tuna Roll (our top 2 best-selling rolls). Two beautiful, contrasting rolls. One roll with very delicious fried eel on top, one with very fresh tuna on top. The best of both worlds of rolls. Solid choice.
Nigiri Moriawase (20th Anniversary Dish) (10 pieces of Chef’s selection of nigiri) (Upgrade to grand nigiri moriawase). Yes, we upgraded. We asked what the difference was, and it just seemed like a very enjoyable addition of different seafood. Some stand-outs being the toro, of course, the scallop, and the always lovely amberjack. Worth the upgrade.
Dessert
So a dessert caveat. The MDM menu online says that they have tempura cheesecake on the menu, but they don’t. And they won’t let you get it, I asked. So don’t be fooled. But the two desserts we ended up getting were excellent and I wasn’t too butt hurt at all.
Matcha Cheesecake (creamy cheesecake infused with premium matcha, perfectly smooth with a light green tea finish). This was insane. It was a warm matcha cheesecake. Ultra creamy, just matcha-y enough, and a nice bite from the crust. This was a great dessert.
Matcha crepe cake (Japanese twist on the French classic of paper-thin crepes layered with matcha cream). One of the best desserts I’ve had in years. So many layers. So much texture play between those layers and the cream. It was so delicate, I would have a hard time believing that it wasn’t made in-house.
Overall, wow, this little sushi shop in a strip mall really blew my mind. Not only did I love supporting them for participating in Magical Dining, but I also loved my meal, and I can’t wait to come back one day.
Additionally, the waitress was kind, thoughtful, and offered plenty of suggestions. The sushi chefs were also masters at their craft because the rice and fish meshed together perfectly.
I really love how they have a rotating weekly menu—which has local and Japanese fish. The variety is astounding!
This is now my GO TO spot when I’m in the area!
